Samantha's POV
I'm now on my way to Cassie's. I received a missed call from her a little while ago. She only calls me when she really needs my help with something, so I decided to just drive down there.
I finally arrive, taking note of the time so I can return to dinner on time. I run up the stairs to the house coming face to face with Cassie at the door with a pile of towels in hand.
"Carry these to the barn, we have a calf to deliver".
I knew her calling was an emergency, but this was far from what I had in mind. Thank God I wasn't wearing anything I would regret wearing later. An hour later we were successfull in our efforts. we had gathered up all the used towels disposing of them.
And lastly heading upstairs to wash up. Cassie handed me another pair of clothes and had grabbed her a pair, then began following me into bathroom.
"No Cassie, I don't have time for this".
" I'm not going to do anything and your right we don't have the time, we have a dinner to catch".
A sly grin on her face. How did she know about the dinner I was having with Katelyn.
As if reading my mind, "Your unrequited invited me to join. So come on now we don't wanna be late".
She says pulling me towards the shower. We both enter the loft, Cassie's eyes roaming every inch of the place. The entire ride here I've been trying to figure out how Cassie found out about this.
Did Katelyn contact her but how, she didn't find out about Cassie until today. My thoughts went to my phone, but thats locked. So how did she do it.
"Oh good Sam just in time" Kate yells from the kitchen taking up a dish from the oven.
Cassie turns around after admiring the photos on the wall and gives me a knowing look making her way to the dining table. Dylan makes his way there as well with a bowl of freshly made dinner rolls setting them down at the center of the table.
Hang on where did Dylan come from, was I that lost in thought that I didn't notice his car outside.
"Hello I'm Dylan you must be Cassie", he greets Cassie with an outstretched hand.
Cassie's a bit taken aback and plasters a fake smile on her face and nods at Dylan. Cassie's always been this way since I had first met her. She's beyond the friendliest person in the world but when it comes to new faced guys she's as prickly as a porcupine. I try to cover my laughter at their encounter.
"Sami come on are you gunna stand over there all night", Cassie says taking her seat at the table ignoring Dylan's effort to start a conversation.
I take a seat beside Cassie, questions still swimming in my head. Along with anger of being deceived. She knew I wouldn't have agreed to this if Dylan was joining.
To top it all off she cooked my favorite, well played Kate, well played.
"Okay everyone let's dig in", Kate chimes as she takes her seat at the table.
And we do just that.
Kate's POV
Not long after someone breaks the silence that loomed in the room.
"Cassie it's nice to finally meet you in person".
"Likewise, I've heard much about you from Sami".
It's becoming a bit annoying hearing her refer to Sam like that.
"Oh really like what exactly", I look over at Sam whose now glaring daggers into Cassie.
Cassie takes a sip of her water before speaking.
"Just that your a treasured friend".
Cassie glances at Sam who gives her a side ways glare and continues to eat her food. A little while into eating I notice Cassie staring at me as if trying to figure something out.
"Babe this homemade spaghetti is awesome".
"Aw thanks babe", I smile at him and peck his cheek.
I had forgotten that Dylan was here. Remembering the purpose of this entire dinner, I proceed with my plan.
I look over to Sam and notice that she had stopped eating, spinning her fork in her hand. She looks over at the left side of her plate, then I realise what she was looking at.
Cassie's hand slowly moved towards her plate. I looked up at her, she had caught me staring. She smiled and winked at me, motioning for me to not tell. Little did she know that she was already caught redhanded.
Before we knew it Sam had swatted Cassie with her fork, a small yelp escaping her lips. I was surprised at the action, in my eyes that was way out of character for Sam to do.
But she did it with no hesitation or remorse. I looked at Sam surprise still written on my face but she just shrugged it off as if nothing happened.
Concerned about Cassie's hand I turned my attention to her to see if she was alright, but she had sprang back from her ordeal and continued to plea to Sam for what's in her plate. They really have a close relationship, don't they.
"Sami why do have to be so mean"," you know you don't even eat the dinner rolls so why not hand it over".
"Why don't you just grab another one from the bowl right in front of you".
"Because I want yours silly".
"What kind of rational thinking is that", Sam retorts.
"Fine you can have it, here", Sam finally gives in.
They're completely oblivious to what's around them, it's as if they're the only two people in this room.
I don't like this feeling in my chest, watching this exchange before me.
"uh uhh, feed it to me".
What, she wants Sam to feed her. A pang ignites in my chest again.
"Hey babe are you finished with this", Dylan asks.
"Oh uh yeah, just leave them there I'll wash later".
"Nah I got it".
The next thing Sam does baffles me sending me into a burning turmoil. She breaks off a piece of the dinner roll and feeds her.
Next thing I know everyone's looking at me.
"Kate you okay", Sam asks looking up at me.
That's when I realized I was standing. I excused myself and made my way to the bathroom.
