Baking always seemed to relax my nerves. Now I'm not as nervous in speaking with Kate and I have a peace offering. Two birds with one stone. Rosie told me where to find Kate, along with a very detailed description of what she's wearing under that attire of hers.
As tempting as it is, my heart belongs to my best friend. Nearing the door my heart speeds up, it becomes the only thing I can hear.
Giving the door a light knock, Kates angelic voice tells me to come in. Taking a deep breath, I turn the door knob and slowly peer inside. Kate doesn't look up, but continues writing in a journal of some sorts.
"Soo, what brings you--", she stops surprised to see me here in her office I suppose.
I find myself in a similiar situation, unable to speak. Her beauty is so mesmerizing, bringing me to my knees every time.
Her brown hair braided to one side and her face supporting a pair of glasses, she's wearing office attire instead of her regular casual clothes.
She's always been free spirited and carefree, but this Kate is all work, head strong and focused. I've never seen this side of Kate before, one of intimidation causing a new feeling to run through me.
"I.. made these for you, I know how much you love your pastries", I say placing the small box of doughnuts on her desk as I took a seat in a nearby chair.
My legs were really giving way. She looked away as if in thought, removing her glasses and closing the journal.
"Is this your way of apologizing", she motions to the box of doughnuts.
"Y-yes I mean no, I baked them with Rosie's class and thought I'd bring you some since I had planned to drop in to talk about what happened that night".
"Oh, which one Sam.. because as far as I know... you weren't there for fifteen of them. So which one could you possibly be referring to", she said coming around from her desk.
Okay I deserved that. Kate's also wearing a pencil skirt that complements her hips nicely along with black stockings that show her
silk long legs, my throat goes a little dry at the sight before me."And 'Rosie', when were you two ever aquainted, you've never visited my job once", she jabbed but I can't seem to concentrate when she props herself on the desk in front of me lifting one leg over the other.
I try my best to reign myself in and take in what she says.
"I just.. I met her today... actually ..on my way here", this girl is killing me.
I must admit I have a nice view of her thighs and I can just about see her underwear. Ughh, Samantha focus this isn't the time.
"What do you want to talk about", she asks opening the box bringing a doughnut to her pink lips.
I have to concentrate on apologizing to her, that's what I came here to do.
"I- I know I should've told you sooner, there's no excuse for that and I'm sorry. Your my best friend and I shouldn't have been scared to tell you, I should've trusted that you would still be there for me. I.. didn't give you that chance to, but instead made the decision for you and kept you in the dark".
She puts down her unfinished doughnut back in the box licking the powdered sugar off of her fingers.
"All is forgiven", she said turning away to pull out a few hand towels from a drawer behind her desk.
"Really", I leapt out of my seat over joyed scooping her up with a twirl.
Bits of laughter escaped her filling the room with the most pleasant of sounds.
"You've gotten heavier", I joked placing her back on her feet.
Her face sported a shocked look, a closed fist making contact with my arm came after.
My moment with her didn't last long until someone knocked on the door.
"Yes", she said, my eyes not leaving her for a second as I try to remember every detail about her.
"uhh Miss Danvers, is this a good time", a small voice says. I guess that's my queue to leave.
"Later", I whisper giving her a wink.
"I'll see you at home", she quickly asks grabbing a hold of my hand. At that moment I felt a spark, sadly I'm the only one who can sense it.
"Yeah, see you at home", I reply giving her hand a squeeze before leaving.
