When Guzman ended the conversation with telling Ander the news of his father being arrested, Ander knew he had to tell Lolita as soon as possible even though he knew it would be hard. He decided to the best time to tell her was after school when he took her home.
As the day went on, all he could think about was the conversation on how he would tell her. Finally school ended and they met up at Ander's car greeting each other and enveloping into a long sweet kiss. A minute later they pulled apart talking about how there day went as Ander pulled out of the school's parking lot.
"I can't believe Martin gave us that assignment to write about what we want to do after high school and it has to be six pages in French " Ander huffed.
Lolita shook her head at him giggling "he gave us two weeks to complete it Ander and he did say he wasn't giving us homework to focus more on it to complete it" she recalled.
Ander glanced at his girlfriend giving her a look " easy for you to say babe, your probably going to be done with it by tomorrow."
Lolita smiled at the mention of "babe" it made her feel giddy. Leaning over she kissed his cheek "I'll help you Love, don't worry" she said to him.
Ander smiled at his girl he knew now was the perfect time to tell him as he stopped at a light. "Baby there's something I have to tell you" he said to her as the light turned green. Lolita was caught off guard by the sound of his voice. He found somewhere to pull over cutting the car off. Lolita turned her body completely towards his "what is it mi amor?" she asked with worry.
Taking a deep breath, Ander begin to talk "I talked to Guzman today and he told me some things...very important things that you need to know" he said. Reaching over Ander grabbed her hand in his "baby...your dad got arrested yesterday for embezzlement of public funds, bribery, and criminal negligence" he told her.
Lolita felt like she could choke on her own spit as she heard the words that came out of her boyfriend's mouth. "H-he wh-at?" She said stuttering over her words.
"He has been in the city jail since yesterday, Guzman told me that everyone tried to contact you and me..but we had our phones cut off all day" he finished looking down at there lace hands. She didn't know how to react to this...her dad well her adopted parent who is a well know contracted across the city has just been arrested for something that can potentially screw his career.
Looking outside of the car window at the other cars pass by "if I just had my phone on..I-I could ha-ve" she shook her head starting to blame herself.
