(Itachi)
"You asked for me, sir?" I opened the door entering the principal's office after a few knocks. There were several books scattered around the room. Countless pots of all sizes with blooming plants were giving the impression that you were inside of a plant nursery.
I was unsure why he'd called me.
His gaze was fixed outside the window, his hands folded behind his back. "I'm glad to see you, Itachi, please take a seat," he simply said, smiling and pointing to an empty chair in front of his desk.
I did as he told me while he headed to sit at his well-furnished mahogany desk.
"I am proud that our school has a remarkable student like you, Itachi. Your grades have always been exceptional and I'd be happy to write you a recommendation letter for your college application."
"Thank you, sir, it would be my honor."
"Likewise, your little brother's scores are notable and he is consistent in everything regarding our school activities. I'm glad he's following in your footsteps. Keep up the same pace and both of you will be accepted to any college you are interested in," he paused for a moment and then raised his brows thoughtfully. "Unfortunately, the problem is your cousin's grades. "
I shifted in my seat a bit without giving him a straight answer; I had yet to comprehend why he'd called me without talking to him first. But then again, it was Obito.
He intertwined his fingers in front of his face, a stern look taking over his usually calm features."As you may already know, Obito was a very promising student as a freshman. Unfortunately, his efficiency started to decline dramatically by the end of that year," he paused to take a quick look down at his notes. "I am aware that you've recently started tutoring a few freshmen. I would like you to suggest to Obito that he participate in a study and guidance group in order to increase his grades, even a small upward trend would be beneficial to him. I know that he is really smart, all that he needs is a little push."
I lowered my gaze and nodded, my fingers running across the ridges of the antique furniture absentmindedly. Whether Obito would agree to that was another issue I was completely uncertain about.
"I'll talk to him about this idea and see what I can do."
The principal nodded and thanked me as I got up from the chair after excusing myself.
Stepping outside the front door, I typed in Obito's number. I hadn't seen him leaving when we finished school today, maybe he'd just left earlier. It rang one, two, then three times until he picked it up.
"What?" He answered curtly.
"Hello to you too, Obito. I didn't catch you at school today."
"I was off earlier. Been kinda busy ," from the other line I could hear an echoing sound, something between a thump against a metal surface and then a strange noise as if someοne was tightening a screw.
"What the hell are you doing?"
"Currently I'm fucking busy and unfortunately it's not the other way around."
"Lovely. But seriously, what are you doing? "
He took a deep breath through the call and then I heard him unscrew something and then turn the tap on and off. "The kitchen's sink had a leak and apparently I'm trying to fix it right now."
