"Oh gracious goddess," the voice said, waking me up in the process. I squirm slightly, feeling his protective arms still holding me on top of him. When Grayson took me back to the castle, he knew exactly how to get me to stay and every single one of his tricks worked. Hence the reason why my lower region felt awful ached.
It was worth it though.
"Mom, get out," I hear Grayson shout in a whisper. After analyzing that my eyes opened wide and I flung myself apart from Grayson but with his hands around my naked body I didn't get far.
"Good morning, Elaria. I haven't seen you in a couple of days," she spoke as I dragged my eyes over to her. Lisa was wearing a proud smirk as she looked at tangled with her son beneath the duvet.
"Uh-um," I tried to speak but the embarrassment and uncomfortable feeling settled within me. "You're making her uncomfortable, go away," Grayson spoke again, pulling me to hide my face in his neck which was much appreciated.
"I see you told her?" She continued to speak, not listening to the offers. I don't know how it was possible but he pulled me closer. "Yes," he whispered, stroking his other hand down my back, distracting me from the embarrassment I felt. "I..." Lisa sighed. She didn't want me to know, did she? She probably hated me now.
"Elaria, there is something I need to tell you both about your parents," Lisa finally said and I shot back up again. The duvet pushes under my arms to help hide my braless chest.
"What about them?" I asked.
"I'm so sorry I never told you before but I probably would have gotten killed if I didn't have Gray to save me as I do now. The day Grayson left, the day after that your parents tried to save me. Your parents knew what was happening under their noses so they finally decided to confront him. El, Hannah was the one who helped me cover all of my bruises," she spoke, stunning me in every way possible. I remember nights I would wake up by muffled talking in the lounge near my bedroom. When I would ask about it my father would always put me back to bed before I could ever see anything.
"The night after Gray left, your parents lost it and we're finally going to disobey me by confronting him. They were ready to protect my life, to save me. I don't think they knew what they were doing but they did it anyway. It didn't work, El. He threatened to kill Dixie and you, to ruin their lives and turn your family into rogues. They were proof that he got caught so he banished them," she spoke.
"Banish them? To the lost island?" I asked. I couldn't even begin to think about this being possible.
"You...you knew about this?" My voice had disappointment and betrayal laced in it. His eyebrows furrowed and he pulled me into his chest. "No, of course not, I would have told you," he assured me with sincerity. The thought of my parents being alive felt so foreign. I was living in a lie. I felt hurt that for ten years Lisa never told me.
My parents could be alive. Could they survive in a forest filled with ruthless and dangerous rogues? It's been ten years. Ten years ago that man forced them to leave, telling thousands that they were killers. "Mom can you go see if there is a spare toothbrush in the washroom and I think you should go change, there are hoodies and boxers in the closet," Grayson broke the silence, saying the last part softly to me.
He was probably right but the only thought I could keep in my head was that I needed justice. I needed to bring my parents back home to Dixie and me.
I was so far in thought that I grabbed the blanket that was already wrapped around me before I slipped out of the bed and waddled my way into his closet. What was going on with me? I couldn't think straight. Even when I was throwing on Grayson's clothes I didn't know what I was doing.
"Lisa!" I screamed staring at the vines that covered the door. She ran out of the washroom with a toothbrush in her hand.
"He didn't," she gasped in disbelief as I tried pulling the door open. It wouldn't budge. He had sealed them inside and out. Even if I unlocked the locks using my powers it wouldn't work.
My hands rake through my hair in frustration, how did I allow this to happen? I fell right into the trap.
"He could get hurt," I tell myself, pacing around the room. I have no idea where Lisa went. I was thrown into a place where I couldn't stop thinking about Grayson getting hurt and the possibility of my parents being alive.
Why? Why did this have to happen?
The sound of leaves pulled me back to my reality and I gasped when I saw the door. The vines on the doors slowly started to disappear. Grayson had to be in trouble if his powers on the door were weakening. I bolted to the door, throwing it open and running down the hallway where King Stephen's office was.
When I got there, the door was already open and all I saw was red. Grayson was on his knees, his eyes wide staring at his father that held a gun in his hand, ready to pull the trigger aiming into his head.
I smelt silver.
Stephen smirked when he spotted me, turning back to Grayson and he pulled the trigger.
"No!" I screamed, raising my hands and the bullet dropped onto the ground.I growled, aiming all my force on the gun in his hand. One swift move of my hand and the gun fell out of my hand and was thrown across the room.
He actually looked scared.
My wolf was ready to pounce at him. She was ready to take him apart for everything that he had done. But I was a little bit more civilized than that. "You're going to pay for everything, mark my words," I growled out at him before using all the power I had and threw him against the wall using my special abilities.
I made sure he was knocked out cold before running to Grayson who was at his feet. "Are you okay?" I worriedly scanned his body for any injuries but none were visible to my eyes. "You idiot! You could have gotten hurt!" I punched his shoulder and he winced slightly but pulled me into his chest at the same time.
"I'm alright, love," he assured me, kissing the top of my head. I wrap my arms around his torso, not even caring that Lisa just walked into the office.
I nearly lost him.
"They could be alive, Gray, I need to save them," I whispered, my eyes watering. Hundreds of people believed the lies that Stephen told them.
My parents weren't killers. They were heroes.
"I will bring them back to you, I promise.
