"Thank you, have a nice day." I said to my last customer.
I sighed in delight, for its 2pm and that marks the end of my shift. I get to board home and take a nice nap.
"See ya, guys!" I chimed at my co-workers as I walked out of the shop.
I looked at my phone and noticed a text from Andy, sent not too long ago. Maybe half an hour ago.
"I'm picking you up from work today. I'll be right out front." read the text.
I walked out front and noticed Andy standing beside a beautiful, black car.
"Hey there. Get in the car." he smiled.
I returned the smile and made my way over as Andy opened the door for me. I sat in the leather clad seat and took a look around as Andy closed the door and made his way to the drivers side.
"So, where are we headed?" asked Andy.
"Uh, you tell me." I replied.
He laughed a little and looked at me, "Did you forget that today we're supposed to get me a skateboard?"
"Oh, right! Shit. Just go to the mall, there's a skate shop there." I directed.
He smiled and pulled out onto the street. The ride consisted of me asking him what he wanted to use his board for and of him asking me stupid questions, such as: "Does the color affect the smoothness of the ride?"
Once we got to the mall we found a parking spot fairly quickly, and I guided Andy to the shop where I had gotten my pennyboard.
"Hi. How can I help you guys?" asked a boy of around nineteen, whose name tag read, "Jason".
"We're looking to get a pennyboard. Nothing special, just standard cruising." I said.
"The basic pennies are right over there on that wall. They're all ready to go, so all you've gotta do is pick one you like." Jason said with a smile.
I nodded, thanked him, and pushed Andy in the direction that Jason pointed us to.
We looked around a bit until Andy finally settled on a board called Blackout, because it's all black. Literally, a blackout.
"Andy! Pennies are supposed to be colorful!" I complained.
"This one seems the most suitable for me though! Plus, it'll match with about ninety percent of my clothes." he laughed. "I want an all white one too!"
We found everything Andy wanted and paid for it all. Two boards, and two backpacks specially made for carrying pennies.
We got back to his car, putting what he bought in the backseat, and drove off to my house. On the drive, Andy wouldn't shut up about how excited he was to learn how to skate.
"You've gotta come visit me in LA someday soon. There's a lot of skaters over there, probably because the streets are smooth and there's a lot of back roads on hills to ride. You'd love it." he smiled.
As he spoke, his eyes were full of happiness, excitement, and more emotions that I couldn't place.
"I'd love to visit. You can take me sight seeing once you learn how to board." I replied. He immediately nodded his head with his signature smile.
Once we were at my house I changed out of the clothes I wore to work into something more comfortable.
By that I mean some black skinnies, a red flannel shirt, and my vigorously beat vans. When that was done i surveyed Andy, who was sitting on my couch immersed in his phone.
"I can feel you staring." he said.
"You can't skate in boots, smart stuff." I said.
"Ah. It's a good thing I brought my vans then." he walked out to his car and returned shortly with a pair of beat up vans. "I know, I'm smart."
"Hardy harr harr." I glared.
"Also," he went out to his car again and returned with his boards and backpacks, "I thought we could match." he said as he handed me the white board and black backpack.
"One: Black and white isn't matching. Two: How much was this?" I replied. I've gotta pay him back. An average board can be anywhere from $120 to maybe $150. I've never even looked at the packs though, so I have no idea how much it costs.
"They're opposite and thus match. Just like us. I'm the socially stereotypical punk kid that every parent warned their kid about, and you're the kid who didn't listen to mommy and daddy. As for prices, I'm not telling you." he smiled.
"I'll look at the receipt." I retorted with a smile.
"Oh, the receipt is long gone, sweetheart." he grinned, "Think of it as an extremely late Christmas gift. Although, my company alone is enough of a gift." he smirked.
"Oh, of course, Andy. You alone are a gift... A gift I'd like to return. Where's your tag?" I remarked.
"Very funny, Silv. You know you love me. Seriously though, just keep it. I want you to have it." he smiled lightly.
I gave in and accepted, although I promised I'd get him back one day.
Andy put on his vans, grabbed his blackout board, and his white pack and stood by the door.
"I'm determined to at least learn how to keep my balance today." he said with a serious look on his face.
"Well, good. I don't plan on spending too long teaching you balance, haha." I answered.
I picked up my things and we headed out the door. Let's get this started.
