Chapter 34
E L Y S I A
I found myself blinking before white light.
"Child," A woman spoke beside me, softly. I turned to face her and realized it was the High Priestess I met the first day I arrived at the battlefield through the Portal spell.
You can call me Nai, she had said.
She was specialized with healer witches stationed at the infirmary but in the short time I spent at the infirmary, High Priestess Nai was never present. She looked at the decree from the King that proved I was the High Healer in Ruvon and simply assigned me the task of watching over the witches who were recovering from wolf bites, broken bones, and other injuries.
High Priestess Nai's hair was a midnight black color, similar to mine though her eyes were a lighter shade of brown. Her hair was all curly but her features and voice were soft and gentle. She reminded me of Yara more than anyone else I had ever met in my life. Because of her kindness, she immediately became my favourite High Priestess I had met so far.
In the past seventeen months, I had only seen one High Priestess in the castle. Yet, just this week alone, I spoke to three and even became the enemy of one.
Way to go, I muttered to myself sarcastically. No witch of the Mae Coven or the mortals of the villages I lived in would ever believe one day I would be working alongside the Princess, High Priestesses and the Kings.
A single magic book and I changed my life forever.
But I wasn't sure what I had done now. The magic that gave me life was much stronger than I ever thought it was. The witches weren't the only ones shocked by my actions. I wasn't sure how I lifted the wolves or how I managed to throw their bodies in various directions.
I blinked again, feeling a rush of pain through my body, but ignored it. Only then I realized I wasn't in the infirmary. Rather, we were in a small dark, grey tent.
"Where - where am I?" I asked, realizing it was the only sentence I could make.
"Somewhere safe," Nai promised.
I turned around and realized I was in some sort of tent square tent. Behind High Priestess, Nai was two other witches who were staring at me with crossed arms. I wasn't sure how to respond.
"When you took down that army - what spell did you use, child?" Nai asked.
I narrowed my eyes at her. There was no spell. I wasn't sure what I did. I just saw wolves - I saw them everywhere - I saw Aldric -
My heart stopped.
I was sure we were going to die. I was so sure I was going to die. Then, I saw the wolf in the obsidian coat, his eyes darker than the night sky, his scars bright and red across his coat. He stared at me too, he froze midst it all for a bare second - enough for me to catch his eyes.
Yet, all I felt was rage.
I saw the second circle of wolves that were going to encircle us.
And I just let it all go.
I felt magic pumping every inch of me - I felt in my heart, my head, my blood - everywhere until I let it go and felt an enormous amount of pain rush through me.
I burned myself out, I could still feel how tired my bones were.
"Breathe, child," Nai continued. "You are okay. We saved you before the wolves could take hold of you."
