"Why, thank you so much! You don't know what this means to me." I walked out of the place where the man had just bought my horse for $500. I'm not exactly sure if the horse was worth more than that but I don't care, I'm getting a real good stack here.

"So where ya headed to?" I turned to the man who asked me the question.

"I'm headed to Tulsa. Now I just gotta find a ride."
"You know, a while ago a boy worked at these stables. He lives in Tulsa I can give him a call if you want. Maybe he'll give you a ride."

"Are you sure? I mean, will he be okay with it?"
"I'm sure he will, very nice kid." He smiled and patted my back guiding me to a phone.

I watched him talk to the guy nodding and making conversation. I bit my nails nervously tapping my foot deeply embarrassed to ask for a ride from a complete stranger. I didn't know how far Tulsa was from here in all honesty and I didn't want him to come a long way to give me a ride to Town.

"Good news. He said he'd be right here, just wait at the front entrance." He grinned at me.

"Thank you." I let out a nervous laugh and grabbed my bag and my hat saying my final goodbye to my horse. I placed my hat on and prepared to put my guard up. I know I got to be tough now, I'm all alone and no one is here to protect me. Be tough, it's not hard. I just know I'm not gonna last long.

I waited for a while, maybe one or two hours before I finally saw a old looking truck pull up.

My heart started racing and I felt anxiety come up. But I had to go. I walked up to the truck seeing another person in the front seat. I hopped in the backseat and closed the door.

"Hi!" I very handsome boy looked back at me and smiled. I stayed cool and tried not to stay in a trance.

"Hey." I smiled at him and the other boy in the front.
"You know, I'm very sorry you had to come all this way. I didn't know Tulsa was that far."

"It's no problem little darling." He chuckled and started to drive.

"I'm Steve, and you?" The other guy in the front turned around to face me. Both of them were pretty good looking but the driver was a model.

"I'm Adaline Jones." I know that my full name is Adaline Peach Jones, I'm not dumb. But I could never tell them that. They would end up calling me Peach and the only person I allow to call me Peach is Dally. No one else has ever gotten the pleasure of being my family, my very dear friend.

"My name's Sodapop Curtis." The driver looked in the rearview mirror and looked back at the road.

"Really? That's your real name?"
"Yeah yeah get your laughs out." He held on to the steering wheel tightly, turning kind of pink.
