(Marley's POV)

"No! She's too young to be my mom!" I argued.

"I had you when I was 16 years old. Your father was a bad man. I was pregnant with you, and your grandmother didn't like it. So, she kicked me out. We ran away together. Your father was a drug dealer, Marley. He still is. " Miss Lane spoke up.

"I'm still lost!" I yelled.

"Keep going Molly." Miss Marin demanded.

"I ended up being a part of a scam. He used me to get money, Marley. I ended up owing him more money than I could've payed back in a million years. So, he said he would kill me or you if I didn't pay him back. He said If I didn't pay him back by the time you were 3 he would kill us both. He got antsy. I needed to get away. So, I ran away from that life with you. I found myself begging for help here. Miss Marin took us both in. Together we started the orphanage here to help people like us. But Rufus Smith is different than the rest, more dangerous. He is eminent, yet just a shadow to the human eye. To protect us both we changed my last name and yours. You could never know the truth. " she explained.

"Now, we fear Rufus may be using Rachel to help get his revenge." Miss Marin explained. I was furious. "Marley, he's dangerous. He will hurt you, everyone you love. Anyone he can get his hands on to destroy you. " I started to cry.

"You are my mother! You made me think I was alone! All the days I spent up there locked in the attic without anyone. I thought no one in this world loved me! When you were here the whole time! You could've told me! It would've been okay!" I cried, standing up. "I'm done here. I'm done with you both." I walked out of the room and went upstairs. I locked my door and cried.
