Granger just stood there, unable to fathom their sudden skinship; her slender arms on his waist, her hot breath on his shoulder blades. And not to mention there's those twin melons again!

Oh how he wished time would stop for them! He'd love to savor her warmth and tenderness, and hug her back. But then the young demon hunter was reminded of Estes' warning earlier. It kept him grounded to the reality that he might absorb her life force.

Granger gently retracted the girl's hands away from his body, careful to not accidentally touch her skin. He walked a few meters away from her.

"Guini... Sorry I can't accompany you home today. I... still have some stuff to do at the Monastery." Granger lied through his teeth.

He can't tell her he was going back to Estes' clinic or she might worry some more instead of resting. He just wanted to erase her worries as it breaks his heart seeing Guinevere downcast.

He grabbed her arm and guided her to the parked imperial car nearby. Though subtle, Guinevere noticed the change in Granger's actions.

"Oh. It's okay Grangey..." Guinevere tried to smile like she always do but she noticed how Granger refused to look at her way which made her even more uncomfortable.

'So he wasn't fine after all...great! Just great Guinevere!' She felt awful.

She wanted to ask what's wrong but she was afraid of pushing Granger's buttons. What if Granger also get mad at her for taking too much of his time by dawdling around and apologizing for small things? But it was after all, her fault for succumbing to her fluctuating mood and raising her voice.

After gaining her freedom two years ago, all she ever wanted was to live a peaceful life, in return she turned over a new leaf. Leaving her spit fire personality to a passive aggressive one. Due to that, she formed a habit of avoiding confrontations.

"To Swan Castle. Please drive safely." Granger gave a small pouch of diamonds to the driver. The lad opened the car door but didn't lend his hand like the usual.

'He's really upset! Good job Guinevere Baroque! Such a good friend you are!' She sarcastically applauded her stupidity in her mind. She felt her heart tighten.

"S-See you tomorrow, Grangey!" Guinevere tried to cheerfully wave her hand but the young marksman only just nodded and immediately turned his back.

There was a different fear that crept in her heart. The fear of losing Granger as her friend. And now he was suddenly acting all cold and distant just like his figure as the car moves forward.

Guinevere could only gaze at Granger's fading figure on the horizon. He was always cold to other people, but never to her as she was his friend. Or was she?

'Why am I so despicable?! I'm now even doubting Granger due to this pesky gnawing feeling in the back of my head! Argh!' Guinevere tightly closed her eyes and shook her head. She couldn't  believe she was doubting on Granger's offer of friendship.

'Between us, I'm the bad friend! I only accepted his friendship so I could see my ship in person!'

Guinevere clutched her throbbing heart, its beat felt as if it was crescendo of a drum performance. Her eyes were glued at the spot where Granger was last standing.

'But I'm also... a bad shipper...I--'

"M'lady, are you alright?" The old driver asked worriedly. He was worried for the young lady who covered her reddened face. Did she perhaps ate something that irritates her skin?

"Y-Yes, of course!" Guinevere immediately answered and fanned herself.

"Are you sure m'lady?" The driver probed while his eyes still on the road.
