"What? That I don't wanna be friends with Guinevere anymore?"

Guinevere's hands shook at her sides. Her body felt heavy and her knees weakening. She wanted to open the door and talk some sense to Granger, beg for him to take back his words but her lead-like legs refused to move. She helplessly stood there and waited for the two men to continue their conversation about her.

"Are you serious?!" Estes asked and there was a small thud, wood clashing on the tiled infirmary floor. His chair must have fallen since he immediately stood up as he ask the question Guinevere has been dying to ask.

'Yes, Granger must be joking!' Guinevere thought to herself. But deep inside, Guinevere was scared. Her fear was becoming reality.'Please let it be a joke!' She wished in her heart.

"Don't look at me like I'm a clown, Estesticles. I'm serious."

CLANG!!

Guinevere's phone fell, crashing loudly to the floor. The screen was shattered just like her poor love-struck heart. Her tears dripped on the floor, next to the fallen box of donuts, fortunately no pastry was harmed. Who knew those words coming from Granger's mouth could hurt so much for Guinevere to lose strength?

The loud sound alerted the two men inside. Estes strode towards the door, his paralyzing spell was ready in case it was a thief or an intruder. Granger followed closely. He didn't hear some footsteps earlier since he was preoccupied with the heartfelt, man-to-man conversation earlier.

"Who-- Oh, Lady Baroque!!" The elven king opened the door he forgot to close properly earlier.

And there he saw Guinevere crouching down just outside his clinic slash office, collecting the fallen doughnuts and her phone that had many cracks on the screen. The young demon hunter smiled as he bent on to his knees and helped up the redhead.

"Guini, You okay? Lemme help--" Granger's hand were swatted away.

"No thanks." Guinevere uttered coldly, protecting her phone closer to her chest.

She won't fall for his faux kindness anymore. She was fed up with all the pretenses. What's worse was that he was acting like he never uttered a horrible thing and it made Guinevere boil in anger.

"Huh? Guini? What's wrong?"

"I...heard everything..." Guinevere's voice quavered as she closed her eyes tightly. Her hands that was dearly holding her phone close to her chest felt clammy, her heart was beating loudly.

"You did?"

The girl fluttered her eyes open and scanned Granger's dauntingly handsome face. He looked like he was caught red handed. He scratched his nape awkwardly, his crimson eyes refused to look at Guinevere's emerald ones. He looked like he was guilty and Guinevere was a bit disappointed that he didn't even try hiding it.

But for the the whole time she was with him, she learned that Granger was a man of few words; his face would always mirror his honest thoughts. It was very much like him that instead of being comforted by lies, it was better to be hurt from the truth. Guinevere couldn't stop her tears from falling the moment she saw Granger avoiding her eyes.

"I-I'm sorry, Grangey.  Let's...let's stop this. I'm sick of everything." This time, Granger's focus was on her.

He was stunned at what the girl had just uttered. She looked so done with everything. Guinevere didn't want to see Granger offer her a fake smile that she always see on the faces of the other nobles she met. She had to stop this before things get awry and both of them gets hurt from pretending to be fine when it's not.
