"Tokyo, Japan. The metropolitan city located at the head of Tokyo Bay. You know, it was originally a fishing village named Edo. But, Edo is a goner, pal. Edo is the former name of Tokyo. This city have many places like Nishi-Shinjuku skyscrapers, Mount Fuji, Rainbow Bridge, National Diet Building, Tokyo Skytree and Shibuya Station. In this city, there lived a china doll who was transformed into a girl. A girl without parents, A girl who is a nobody, A girl who is a....Yep, you know." Said the narrator, who's revealed to be a homeless girl wearing a red kimono, white socks, black ballet flats, a white belt and a blue bow with yellow dots. "My name's Mayu. I'm a china doll who was transformed into a human girl. I attempted many times in my life." The girl narrated as she walked in the streets of Shibuya, seeing some people. In a flashback, she remembered the day where she was a inanimate china doll. "I remember the day when I was; a china doll in a local shop. Everything passed when one night, I was transformed into a person and I live without a home." She said as a businesswoman talking to her phone passed by. "Hi, I'm Mayu!" Mayu introduced herself as the woman didn't say hello to her. "I feel that I'm such a nobody." She thought as she went into the streets of the Shibuya Crossing and tried to say hello to the inhabitants, but no avail.
Back to the present, Mayu is living in the rooftop on a red building. Serving as her place of residence is a makeshift hideout and a scooter. "Bada-bing! This is where I live, my hideout. Every orphan can find a place or they'll be adopted like there's no tomorrow. I have my elevator here, with a board and a rope." She narrated about her place as she picked up her scooter and used her elevator to go down. The china doll noticed a vending machine and pulled out a quarter as she chose a bottle of water. "There we go." The bottle came out as she drank some water and said to herself. "What a beautiful day in the metropolitan city!" Later, Mayu is riding in her scooter, humming to "In the Good Old Summer Time". She wasn't greeted by the people as she saw a butterfly and many birds flying.
"Hey, there!" Mayu greeted as she left Kabukicho and went to the Ikemen Street. She saw many buildings as she greeted more people. "Good morning, people!" Mayu greeted them as well before leaving the street and went to Okubo Elementary School where she saw many students in class. "Wow...Every day, they'll go to school." She said to herself as a little boy appeared and stared at her. "Oh, my stars! Hey!" She greeted him before the boy walked away. Mayu sighed as she picked up her scooter and returned to the Kabukicho district. She used her elevator as she went to the hideout. "They never say hello to me. Oh, I wish they would see me and prove that I'm not invisible." Mayu said to herself as she observed the sky. She saw a cloud forming into a silhouette of herself feeling excluded from the society.
"Why people never say hello to me?" She asked as she walked away and observed a family walking in the park. "Family..." Mayu smiled as she watched the family playing together. She went to a street where she saw two brothers playing catch. "Two brothers...""I know you can do it, little brother!" said the young boy, who is 11-years old. He threw the ball to his brother, who is a 6-year old child.
"I know you can do it, little brother!" said the young boy, who is 11-years old. He threw the ball to his brother, who is a 6-year old child.
"I got it!" The little brother shouted as he picked up the ball, much to Mayu's delight.
"Brothers can get along, can't they?" She narrated as she kept walking. "A boy can have his sister, A boy can have his brother. A girl can have her brother, A girl can have her sister. It never felt so good how nice they are." Mayu pulled out her scooter as she went to a school and noticed a girl feeling friendless.
"I wish I could have friends." She remarked sadly as another girl appeared.
"Hello." The girl greeted.
"Hello."
"Let's eat some ice cream."
"OK."
"It doesn't matter. Everybody can get along. And Bada-Bing! People like me can have a good pal, sidekick or partner." Mayu remarked. Back to reality, Mayu pulled out a flower from her pocket as she removed some petals. "I could have friends. I couldn't. I could have friends. I couldn't. I could have friends. I couldn't." She repeated to herself before allowing the wind to blow the petals away. The petals floated as Mayu observed them. "I could have friends." She sighed dreamily.
