Pearl's POV:

Steven wasn't breathing? Oh god, what on earth could have happened??? Connie said that his gem was hurting and he passed out or died? Oh please don't let him be dead. I don't know what I'd do without him.

Connie's POV:

In an instant Pearl, Garnet, and Amethyst were there riding on Lion's back. They ran over and stopped just at Steven's feet. Pearl looked like she was on the verge of tears. Garnet was serious like always, but I could see that she was just as worried as the rest of us. And Amethyst stood behind them, barely able to see Steven in his current state.

"Tell us everything," Garnet demanded in the low voice.

"So we were just sitting here having a nice night and then all of a sudden he doubled over in pain. He was yelling and shaking, and then I saw his veins turn bright pink, like something entering his bloodstream. He told me his gem was hurting so I looked at it, and..."

I lifted up his shirt to reveal the cracked gem, cracked right down the middle.

Garnet picked Steven up and headed back towards Lion.

"Can you help him?"

"If we take him to the healing fountain there might be a chance, but we need to hurry." Was Garnet's reply.

Garnet's POV:

I should have never let Steven leave home. If only he had stayed with us this might not have happened. It's all my fault.

Pearl's POV:

I should have been there for him more, what is wrong with me? It's my fault he's like this.

Amethyst's POV:

Why does stuff like this always happen to Steven, maybe if I had tried harder I could have helped him. This is all my fault.

Connie's POV:

Was it something I did? I didn't mean to hurt him. Maybe he got too excited? I feel like this is my fault.

We all hopped onto Lion's back as he warped us away, instantly we were at his mother's healing fountain where they had healed all the broken and corrupted gems. Garnet still held him in her arms, tears were slowly falling down her cheek. Steven looked so small in her arms. Garnet walked out to the middle of the fountain and laid him down in the water. She walked back towards us and watched in anticipation as he slowly sank to the bottom. The water around him began to turn pink and glow.

Pearl's POV:

I could barely see the fountain and where Garnet placed Steven in it because my eyes were all blurry from crying. Please let this work. The glowing started to dim, he had been in there for a few minutes now. The fountain usually heals gems in mere seconds. Why is it taking so long?

Amethyst's POV:

Steven has to be ok, he has to. Pretty soon bubbles began to appear at the surface of the water, oh man this is it. It's working!

Connie's POV:

In an instant, Steven rose from the water. His hair and clothes were soaking, but the fountain seemed to have worked! His gem was visible and it wasn't cracked anymore.

"Steven!"

He looked at me and smiled, I was worried! Everyone sighed in relief, he was still alive.

Steven's POV:

I saw the loving faces of my family looking at me. I wasn't sure what had happened, but they all looked overjoyed that I was ok. I started to walk towards Connie after she called my name. The water made my walking slower, but like a bolt of lightning, I felt an unusual pain surge through my body. The source of the pain was my gem. It was like someone was pulling me inside.
