The Past Comes Alive

A New Morning

They all went up to the city, with Mr. Danforth's hands tied with a rope. Kassie's and Blaze's parents and Aiden's mother were outside together looking for them scared and with eyes all watery. The three had gone missing and the news about this had gone viral overnight.

Aidens mother saw him first and shouted his name. She came to him running with Kassandra's and Blaze's parents following her. The look on their faces was telling the three that they had been searching for them all night long and were extremely worried. They hugged their children as soon as they reached them. They had also informed the police about them and they could see them patrolling the streets everywhere some were also in the forest.

Aidens mother asked him about what had he done to his father and why were his hands tied up. Aiden told them everything about what had happened. About the secret letter and about all their discoveries about the city. Astonished to listen to this his mother asked him to spare his father. But it was too late. " Mom, I know how you feel, but I'm one of the saviours", he said giving a glance to Kassandra and Blaze ," and it is my job to let the courts decide." . Though his mother was reluctant to this decision she had to agree due to the arguments made by his son. Mr. Danforth had to spend the night in jail.

(A day later)

" Let's go or we are going to be late for the court hearing." Aiden well dressed called out to his mother who was silently crying. A small drop of tear left her eyes and fell on Aidens hand who came near her. He said quietly,"It's the right thing to do." She nodded and got up to leave. As they reached they saw a lot of people and Kassandra and Blaze's families there too. It a little pleasant to see a friendly site in that chaotic ambience. They saw Mr. Danforth in the court as he accepted that he was guilty. The court pronounced a punishment of a year in the jail.

(A month later during Christmas!!)

Aiden wanted to leave behind what had happened and the courts verdict. Those words were repeating in his mind as he was lost in thought on his bench. His friends came and sat right beside him pushing off the snow from the bench. This time they new what was bothering him. Kassandra said," You have to let it go." He looked up and said," It's Christmas let's have some fun." At the sight of him cheering up they got up and joined the others in the park and played in the snow. On Christmas Eve their families and Aiden with his mother met all of them for a beautiful night. All Christmas lights dangling one  every door, fresh wreaths, the presents, Christmas trees, kids shouting and having the best time of their lives and the sweet sound of carolling made him forget all about what had happened in the last month. On the balcony of his house they were enjoying the merry and magnificent view. They could smell the mouth watering food as they were called down to dine. This was a new start from them.
