“ You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.” — Mae West.
Our weekly exams were coming up and I still had no idea how to ace those runes. Taira was so wrecked with the death of her cat that I was really scared to approach her and with my only two other friends Jeffery and Felicity not being witches, I had no one to help me out.
I was never too smart with studies but I really wanted to do well here. The reason was this- I wanted to be a part of the genius club. And to get access there, one had to ace all his/her tests and get an honours in the finals. I have heard that the only genius gang members have access to the restricted section of the library where they keep all the records and rare books. If what Principal Robert had told me was true and my mom really read in this school, I could know a lot about her from there. I have tried to talk to Principal Robert about my mother but he had always expertly avoided the topic by feigning excuses.
So here I was in the library to study runes alone. Few students were scattered here and there in groups preparing for exams or doing some project. In the extreme corner of the room, sat with a piles of book our ever brooding Rebal Drummond.
Ever since he fell off with his sister,he was kinda an out cast among the genius as Taira was everyones favourite.
Rebal was really smart and if I asked nicely maybe he would help me with the test. So, I decided to make a bold move and face him, so there I went to stood infront of him.
'Hi........hi so is Taira okay now?' I asked. Waoh, stuttering much girl.
'Myra.....oh..yeah she is fine, though still not over her cat.' I was not expecting Rebal to answer me politely. I was ready to be asked to move away.
'So like is it okay if I sit here?'
'Why? Why do you want to sit with me after I treated you like a douchè bag? Everyone hates me.' He seemed pissed and hurt and confused at the same time.
'Well for starters I need your help with the test and everyone does not hate you.' Who was I kidding, Rebal was a really arrogant person so its no wonder people disliked him.
'Okay'
'Okay to what?' I asked.
'Okay to help you with your test,Myra. I have already completed preparing for it and I think I can revise it while helping you' Rebal spoke.
'Omigod, thank you so much. If I do well I will owe you one.'
'But, you need to do one thing for me' he said.
'Sure..tell me how can I help you.'
'I want you to bring me Felicity's hair' he whispered.
Okay. This was a messed up request. I expected him to make me do his bidding for a week. Bringing Felicity's hair was an easy job, but wasn't it a bit creepy.
As if reading my discomfortand confusion, Rebal said 'Its okay if you cannot do this, the test is not that difficult. You can prepare on your own.'
Fuck it. I want to do well in the tests and bringing Felicity's hair wasn't a huge deal, they literally lie everywhere when she finishes brushing it.
'Fine, you have a deal.' I finally agreed.
