Everything has its wonders, even darkness and silence, and I learn, whatever state I may be in, therein to be content. - Helen Keller

Myra POV

Growing up half Indian and half American, I was subjected to a lot of cultural variations. We have never been to India though since none of my mother's relatives were alive. She lost her parents when she was 19, probably after she finished school here. They both drowned in a boat accident while enjoying their vacation in the Maldives.

So we celebrated Diwali and Christmas with equal zeal. And I had a happy family and friends. But soon everything perished like forests in a fire, burning and glowing.

I woke up. It was a dream. But this felt like a dream too- here I was in a school for fairies and vampires alike, mugging runes for a weekly test rather than learning algebra.

Felicity was sleeping soundly in her bed. I have already collected her hair from the dustbin in our room. It was eleven thirty now. And I have promised to meet Rebal at midnight in the first floor common room.

The eerie silence of the corridor made my heart beat faster than normal. But as I reached the common room,a faint light was glowed in the room and two voices were whispering to eachother. But before I could enter through the door, a hand over my shoulder halted my gait while another muffled my surprised scream. My vision set over the figure behind me as I was allowed to turn over.

Rebal. He indicated me to stay silent and stay behind him as we eavesdroped over the conversation going on in the room.

From that distant, I could easily understand one of them was Principal Robert while the other was someone we did not know.

' But we need that sceptre Robert, we need to find it soon. ' the other voice, which now I found out to be a woman's whispered.

' You know that we cannot find it.  Only the girl will be able to reach it.' Who was the girl they were talking about?

' So sent her to find it. I am sure you can make her do it for you.' the woman seemed agitated.

' No. No. She is not ready yet. You know it will take immense capabilities to find such a powerful object.' the Principal said hurriedly.

' Of course she is ready. Felicity is a bright child. She would be able to find the sceptre hidden by her grandmother. ' the woman huffed.

' But....why not Fiona? ' this was me. I asked to Rebal in a whispered tone. I hoped that it Felicity was not ready her older sister can surely do it for her.

' I will tell you later.' Said Rebal as he hushed me again.

' Fine. Next thing in morning I will ask her to find it. I am sure the sceptre is somewhere hidden in this school by Queen Amaya. ' Principal Robert promised the woman.

.................

Can you guess why Fiona was not fit for finding the sceptre?
