Jorja's POV
James and I were sitting at home when the phone rang. James jumped up to grab it, hopeful it might be news of the girls. And it was! It was their school, something about Kalani, apparently. We were told to come to the school as soon as possible and they told us they had called Abby too and she was on her way. I hope the girls are alright! What if Kalani's seriously injured? We get to the school and see Abby. I see her eyes scan the school, no doubt looking for the girls. She smiles at Kendall, but I can quite clearly see her glare at Kalani and Kenzie and their friend. I give them an assuring smile, to let them know that we're here for them. We head to the principal's office and he announces for all three girls to come, on the P.A system. Abby is sitting next to James, frowning. Kendall, Kalani and Kenzie come in; poor Kenzie looks scared to death. There aren't enough seats, so Kalani grabs the last one and Abby grabs Kendall to share her seat with her. Kenzie looks nervous so I beckon her to come over and she sits on my knee.
"Well, Ms. Miller, Ms. Jones, Mr. Jones, I've called you and your children here today because one of our teachers has told us that one of these children discussed a very serious matter with her, today," the principal, Ms. Thornton explained. I see Abby glare at first Kalani and then Kenzie. I feel Kenzie shiver in my lap, and I squeeze her hand. The poor girl shouldn't have to deal with this. And what is this about? Is this about what Abby's done to the girls? Have they finally told someone?
"So what is this about then?" Abby asks, acting innocent. Is she serious? She's going to play all innocent? Well let's see how she feels when she gets a taste of her own medicine!
"Well, it has come to our attention that behind the scenes, some of your children are not being treated correctly," Ms. Thornton explained. I see Abby put on a fake confused face.
"What are you talking about?" she asks.
"One of your daughters has told us that there has been severe abuse in your household, Ms. Miller," Ms. Thornton clarifies. Abby fakes a gasp, but she fakes it well.
"I would never abuse my girls! Which one said it? Was it Kenzie? Or was it Kalani? They both have overactive imagination, it was probably one of them," Abby lies. I shake my head in disbelief. She's a lying Satan!
"It doesn't matter which girl it was. Now, if you are telling the truth, Ms. Miller, the majority of people in this room would agree with you. Everyone in this room shall say what is happening from their point of view. We'll start with Kendall, then Kalani, Mackenzie, Mr. Jones and last, Ms. Jones," Ms. Thornton commands. We all nod and start.
"Um... can you come back to me?" Kendall asks. Ms. Thornton frowns but looks to Kalani to continue. Kendall is obviously making up her mind whether to tell the truth or stay loyal to Abby.
"She's lying. We are being abused," Kalani states. Ms. Thornton turns to Kenzie.
"Um... I agree with Kalani," Kenzie mutters looking at the floor. Ms. Thornton nods and turns to look at James.
"Well, I don't know the full story, but I know there is abuse going on in Abby's household," James agrees.
"And you, Ms. Jones?" Ms. Thornton asks.
"There has been abuse," I nod.
"And back to you, Kendall?" Ms. Thornton continues.
"Um... there isn't abuse, Mom is the nicest person I've ever met," Kendall unsurely lies.
"Alright, well considering the majority, we will call some social workers and they will arrive at your house in the next few weeks, Ms. Miller. In the meantime, carry on normally with your life," Ms. Thornton explains.
"Alright, but will the girls stay with us?" I ask hopefully.
"No. We want life to continue normally do that the social workers can get to the depths of this. You may go, and I think it's best if Kalani, Mackenzie and Kendall all have the rest of the day off," Ms. Thornton ends. We all leave, but I'm disappointed we can't save Kenzie and Kalani right now. The poor girls will have to live with that monster for a little bit longer.
