ADAM'S POV
"Dude you need a break." My best friend who was practically my brother told me.
"I can't when all packs are in danger." I replied in a monotone voice, looking through countless documents trying to track the elusive rogue pack Cerberus, that is before they take out more packs.
"Come on Adam, your only 20 you shouldn't be stuck behind a desk yet."
"Easy for you to say Alec, your father does all the work so you don't have to yet."
"I mean he does, but it's because he's a control freak and you know he's not even willing to give up his title, but the elders are making him, I would do the work if I was allowed to." I sighed, Alec's father has been over controlling towards him since his mate died and seeing as that just leaves Alec, I think he's just trying to protect him or hold onto everything he has left, it's just his way of preserving sanity so his wolf doesn't take full control and make them a red-eyed monster.

Most rogues don't have red eyes, in fact some are good you can tell by their scent depending on it can say whether they're Cerberus, blood-hungry killers, red-eyed or peaceful. Cerberus has a distinct scent of  blood with a faint trace of pine, every pack has there own distinct scent depending on where their positioned, but the blood scent comes from the wolves they've killed; the stronger it is the more blood they have spilled.
Wolves who are out for blood, whether it's human, wolf, witch; no matter the species, smell of rotting corpses and rotten food, it's a disgusting scent that will even destroy a mate bond, while the rogue would be able to find their mate if they haven't already, they wouldn't be able to tell that this rogue was meant to be with them. These rogues commonly are wolves who want to join Cerberus, or just want to see the world burn up in flames.
Red-eyed wolves are a give away by their eyes, but they also smell like a wet dog, while yes it's insulting to our species it's true, they also don't control their aura they will just permit their power at full force, the human side is dead or gone when they reach this point, it's only happened a few times when people lost their mate or were forcibly taken away from them, that or seeing them abused or mistreated, them having a partner already and not waiting for their actual mate.
Peaceful wolves who don't belong to packs are labeled nomads, they are free to travel anywhere unless the alpha or ruler of the land doesn't allow them permission to enter, the only rule they have really is don't expose us to humans and to no trespass onto land. Nomads usually wonder the untouched land and settle into a pack or home when they find their mate, pack wolves have one rule when it comes to nomads and that is to not touch them unless trespassing or being aggressive/ starting fights.

"Alright, I'll take a break for a bit." I sighed and pushed myself away from my desk.
"Hell yeah!" Alec fist-pumped the air. "Me and the guys were going to check on the host pack and then explore the city."
"The 'host pack' is called Silver Dawn, and I'm coming with you to make sure you don't lose face from doing something idiotic."
"Hey that's insulting." He yelled after me.
"Well the truth is meant to hurt!"
...

Okay so I don't know when I wrote this but I will update it, this story may not be completed as school is starting up in about a week and I was thinking of restarting this book because Alyssa wouldn't act the same after being locked up by her "father".

I posted this without knowing the journey I would take Alyssa on besides from the start and ending, but I might do an overhaul and create a new story (I already have and working title is broken blood)

EVEN NEWER NEWS

Okay so it's been even longer than when I first wrote the Author's note for this (the bold above), as it's the second term of school and I'll be heading into my second semester before I know it. Currently I have two assignments for two different subjects, I can guess that I will have two tests soon and my English teacher needs us to finish reading the material before the new semester, oh and I chose to do some random science competition and we had some tests from the GOV the past two weeks (even if it only took three days for my year level)

And I now know what I'm doing with this;

FIRSTLY- to anyone who really liked this and wanted me to finish this, I apologise but I just couldn't stand how Alyssa acted as I saw her as being too strong for the situation I shoved her in.

SECOND- all hope is not lost, as I have decided and have been for the past few weeks working on an overhaul of this story! I have been doing a lot of building with the world lore as I decided to make it more complicated for myself and add more species than I initially planned for the universe, I have renamed the main character from Alyssa to Aviana and changed a few major details about her life so she'll act differently and more to how I want.

-When I first wrote the original author's note on this back in January (nearly half a year ago), I had already had plans to rewrite I just didn't know if I would be able to

I will likely add one or more so parts to this as I want to attach my plot arc so if you were enjoying this you can see where I was going and finish it off for yourself, I might also explain a few details that never got to see the light of day like Ezekiel's twin brother- Eric, or Alyssa's twin sister Victoria.

Also a little more information on the new version! It will be less chaotic, and action likely won't be such a main theme (considering I thought this was a static arc story and the rewrite is a positive arc, so yay to character improvement being the focus and not the plot)
