Chapter 6 ~ "What Monster Would Do Something Like This"

Lightnings POV

"Bob? Sasha?" I asked lowering my gun.

"Lightning?" They asked. I smiled. They both stood and we all hugged. Thunder stood awkwardly to the side her gun down but she looked confused.

"They're from the prison." I said laughing.

"Bob, Sasha this is my sister. Thunder. Rick, Michonne, Carl and uncle Daryl found her and they all found me and Maggie." I explained.

They all said hi and I explained why we were here.

After getting the water all four of us headed back to "camp".

When we came out of the trees guns were lowered and sighs were heard until Sasha and Bob came out from behind me and Thunder. Everyone hugged and shook hands or whatever and we all went to sleep for the night since its been dark for at least 3 hours now.

Rick was sleeping in the drivers seat of the car, Michonne in the passenger and Sasha and Bob in the back. I think there's something going on between those two...

Maggie was sleeping in the passenger seat of the truck, Daryl in the drivers and Thunder in the back while me and Carl were sleeping in the tailgate. It was dangerous yeah but we had our guns and we were all light sleepers (not by choice) so we would wake up if anything happens.

The next morning I woke up to the truck moving and me hitting the back of my head on the plastic floor. I groaned and sat up.

Carl was also awake and rubbing his head. I looked through the back window of the truck to see my uncle grinning at us from the drivers seat. I gave him the finger and rubbed my head. He just smirked and turned to look at the road.

"You okay?" Carl chuckled still rubbing his head.

"Yeah I'm fine. You?" I asked smiling amusingly.

"Yeah." Me and Carl cautiously stood up and sat on the roof of the truck facing behind us.

"Where are we headed?" I asked curiously taking in my surroundings.

"Not sure. I'll ask." Carl got down and knocked on the back window. Thunder opened it and Carl asked the question.

"Following the route that the bus was originally supposed to take." Thunder said. Her tone was weird. Something was bothering her. I'll check it out later.

Carl sat back up on the roof and snaked his arm around my waist. I laid my head on his shoulder and looked at the single stray walker we had just passed.

"Do you think it will get better?" I asked quietly.

"Honestly? I'm not sure. I hope so." Carl sighed and gave my side a slight squeeze.

I closed my eyes taking in the peace and quiet. It didn't last long though.

The truck came to a sudden stop. My and Carl almost flying backwards but we held onto the small ledge thing and we managed to somehow keep our balance.

"You okay?" Carl ask frantically when we had stopped shaking.

"I'm fine." I said getting slightly annoyed that he kept asking that. My heart was pounding and I stood up and looked in front of us.

"What the hell is that?" I asked in shock.

"Stay here!" Carl ordered and jumped off the truck. Everyone got out of the truck and Rick, Michonne, Bob and Sasha got out of the car.

I noticed Thunder still in the truck so I got in with her.

"What's going on?" She asked once I opened the door.

I ignored her and slid in the seat next to her.

"Lightning!" She said. I sighed and looked at her.

"I'm not sure okay!" I said annoyed at her. I was stressed out. What I had just witnessed was horrifying. It's not like anything I've ever seen in my life.

"I'm going to go check it out." Thunder said scooting over and reaching for the door.

"NO!" I said pulling her back.

"What the hell Lightning why not?!" She asked looking at me like I had gone completely mad.

"You don't wanna see what I just saw. Okay? It's not something we should ever have to see. I already saw it and I can't help that but I'm not going to let you witness it." I said tears forming in my eyes.

"It's that bad?" Thunder said gently wiping away the stray tear that rolled down my face.

"Yeah it is." I said sighing and leaning into he touch. It felt good to have my sister back.

"Okay. Fine." Thunder said taking her hand away and placing it in her lap.

"What's bothering you? I can hear it in your voice so don't lie." I asked curiously. I picked now to ask cause it just seemed like a good time.

"When you and Carl were sleeping... Rick and I had a chat. He told me that he's noticed a difference in you since I got here. That you've become happier. He said that I needed to earn my place because he doesn't trust me fully yet. He said that if I make one wrong move, he's throwing me out. He also told me to accept the fact that you've grown up in the past two years. You've become stronger. Smarter. You really love him don't you?" Thunder sounded so sad talking about me and Carl.

"Yeah, I do. He's an amazing guy Thunder. You'll like him. Just please try to get alone with everyone. Me and uncle Daryl have learned our places. Long ago. You need to do the same. This group is my family. So are you. If Rick throws you out I dont know if I'm going to be able to choose sides. If I leave Carls gonna wanna leave and Rick won't allow that which will cause a fuss. Uncle Daryl will wanna go too. He's Ricks 'second in command' I guess you could call it. They are like brothers. Please. Do this for me and Daryl." I pleaded. I didn't wanna lose this group. If Rick throws Thunder out me and uncle Daryl will be going with her. Carls gonna wanna come with me. Rick won't allow it. Everything will fall apart.

"I'll try my hardest. I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. That's a promise." Thunder said. We hugged and finally Carl came over to the truck.

"What's going on?!" I asked frantically.

"You guys gotta come see this." Carl said sighing. I knew he didn't want me to. I already saw it though. I was just worried about Thunder.

I looked at my sister and she gave me a nervous, reassuring smile.

"Okay." I sighed. We got out of the truck and walked over with the rest of the group.

"Oh my god..." Thunder said placing a hand over her mouth. "What monster would do something like this..."
