*Sofia's POV*

I was out on the balcony, my arms on the railing. I was looking out towards the city. Damien's city. It tore him not to be able to attend it, but Abe was right. At least one thing he's right in, I thought rolling my eyes. It was dangerous for us to leave the manor, the sky was dark with clouds and the thunder still rumbled in the distance.

I furrowed my eyebrows as I thought about it. There had been no sign of lightning last night, it had been clear, but this morning the lightning didn't seem to stop. We had all noticed it when Mark's body had been found, but we didn't think much of it, there were more important things to worry about.

I walked back inside when a sudden chill passed though. Rubbing my arms I closed the door to the balcony, but kept the curtains open. I walked to the bed and sat down. I absently played with my hair as I replayed the events from the morning. Y/N and I had walked into the room to be horribly surpised and then it all went downhill when everyone else found out about the murder.

Y/N. They were busy playing the detective's partner. I was very worried about what could happen to my dear friend, they should be in their room, resting. I hadn't seen or heard from them since I came up to our room. Damien had gone outside after a while, knuckles white around his cane, to look for Abe. He had told me to stay in our room, but I was restless.

I gave up and decided to braid my hair. I brushed it and quickly braided the strands into a simple up-do, my fingers almost doing it on their own. After years of doing the same braid every morning, I didn't have to think about it. I grabbed my glasses from my bag and rested them on my face. I changed into a more comfortable clothes, the same high wasted pants but with a  warm blue sweater. I kept my face clear of make-up and jewelry, but the tie that had held my hair up before went around my wrist. I played with it as I went downstairs.

I made sure to avoid the main room where the white sheet lay on the floor, not looking inside as I passed. There was no sign of anyone, Abe must have finished the tests and gone somewhere else. Damien wasn't there either.

Suddenly a loud sobbing made me stop in my tracks.

"Y/N?" I said as I walked briskly to where the sound was coming from. "Are you okay?"

I saw their figure walking towards me quickly. Their eyes were wide as they grabbed onto my arm. "What happened?"

They shook their head and pointed towards the wine cellar. Up close they didn't seem to be crying, they looked fine. I walked closer when I heard the sobbing again.

"Master would be so displeased! If only he were still alive!"

Oh. Poor Ben.

I ushered Y/N away when I understood who had been crying. They gave me a look that seemed to say, 'I know.'

"I guess he's not taking it very well." I said as we walked side to side. "How is the work going with Abe."

Y/N rolled their eyes. I smiled. At least someone agreed with me. Y/N quickly explained to me that they had been trying to find any hints about what had happened, but the only thing they had found was a broken bottle in the cellar, that Ben had not wasted a second on picking up.

I sighed, rubbing my eyes. This day could not get any worse. Y/N looked just as tired as they started to think of ways to investigate more.

My eyes suddenly snapped open as I remembered something. Specifically something in the kitchen.

"I might be able to help you find something," I said carefully as Y/N slowly looked met my gaze. They looked at me quizzically. "Just follow me," I started towards the kitchen, silently hoping that the chef wasn't going to make this difficult. Boi was I wrong.
