*Y/N's POV* (yay!)

Sofia and Ben walked down the stairs to the entrance of the house. I wiped at the tears in my eyes before they fell. In all of the years that I had known Sofia for she had never broken down or cried the way she had just a few minutes ago. Losing her fiancé seemed to be her breaking point, all day she had been on edge and trying to keep everyone calm. She always felt like she needed to help everyone, no matter what she was going through. Thoughtful, caring Sofia Davis. But now I knew she would never be the same.

When she had left the hallway and walked down she seemed hollow, empty. Her expression was unreadable and she didn't turn around once. I didn't want to disturb her any further, so I just stayed quiet and watched her leave. But now I found myself not knowing what to do. All day I had been following someone, trying to figure out what had happened. But now everyone was gone. Celine and Damien had disappeared. The staff and Sofia had left, William had left in a fit of rage.

I remembered how Sofia had always been there for me. We had met in our university and I was lucky enough to be in one of her classes. She had always amazed me with the way she wrote.

I wiped my sweaty palms on the front of my black coat. I walked into the classroom, the door and floors made of the same bland wood. The walls were decorated with bookshelves, filled all types of texts. From history to grammar, geography to biographies. I had finally arrived, ready to start a new point of my life, but filled to the brim with nerves. I had never been the most social person, I barely spoke in class, but my skills for writing and reading made up for it.

I walked into the room, students in little clumps around the class, talking and joking. I took a deep breath and walked to the lumber desks that were placed facing each other. There was only one row of desks in the middle of the class, all facing each other.

I sat down next to a girl who was sitting by herself. Her dark brown hair was in a complicated braid. It almost reached her hips. She was wearing glasses, they were resting on her tan nose. Her skin was a bronze color and her eyes were hazel. They were wide and were skimming the pages of a book so fast that I didn't think she was actually reading the words on the parchment.

She looked at me as I sat down and set my own books down. "Hello," she said with a smile and closed her book. "My name is Sofia. Sofia Davis."

I smiled and shook her outstretched hand. "And your name is?" she asked with a chuckle.

"Oh," I blushed. "It's Y/N. Y/N L/N."  I inwardly cringed at how low my voice was.

"Nice to meet you, Y/N." Sofia didn't seemed to notice how low my voice had sounded. She never did afterwards either. "Are you excited for this class?"

I smiled and nodded. She obviously was and I wanted to match her excitement, but nerves from this morning still haunted me, like an annoying bug buzzing in my ear.

"Don't be nervous," Sofia murmured, as if she could read my mind. "You'll be fine, I promise."

And she did keep her promise. For years. She introduced me to Damien later that day. He was just as friendly as Sofia, they both took me under their wing since we were teenagers and recently Damien was the one that made it possible for me to become the District Attorney. We had celebrated the day that we had both gotten the keys to our offices and Sofia become a journalist. She had had a lot of success in her job, her talent had always been in literature and writing.

I had gotten to know about William and Mark but the couple had always been the closest to me. The news about their engagement had almost made me jump on my desk out of happiness. It was about time that Damien had popped the question. They were already together when I met them in college, but he had acted like a lovesick teenager for Sofia. I had almost forced the question out of him when he had chickened out a couple times, but he surprised both of us when he committed to it.
