*Sofia's POV*
"Celine?!" It had been years since I had seen my childhood friend, and this was not the way I wanted to see her again. Damien looked just as shocked at seeing his twin.
"What are you doing?!" she shrieked when she saw the guns.
"Who the hell are you?" Abe shot back.
"Celine? What are you doing here?" William went limp when he saw the woman he had fallen for enter the manor.
""Celine"? How the hell do you know her?"
"Madame, I'm afraid you've come at a very inopportune time. Something dreadful has happened here." Ben said, trying to warn her to leave.
"He's right, Celine," I said, stepping forward. Her eyes widened when she saw me, in concern or fear, I don't know.
"I can see that, and I'm glad I got here before it got any worse." Her gaze softened when her brother grabbed my hand, but her tone was still stern.
"This is only the tip of the iceberg! And it's a big iceberg. How can I put this delicately... MARK'S FUCKING DEAD!"
We all looked at him in disbelief. That was probably not the best way to tell her.
"What?" The question came out almost in a whisper, her eyes swimming with a million emotions.
"Dead like my hopes and dreams. And he's a flesh eating zombie, too!"
"He is not a zombie!" Damien and I yelled at the same time.
"Homo necrosis-" Celine muttered.
"That doesn't help!" I said, turning to face her.
"Exactly. Hence the gun!"
"William!" This time it was Damien who scolded the Colonel. I sighed. We were acting like parents scolding their children.
"That is NOT "hence the gun"!"
"Stop waving those bloody guns around!"
"Thank you, Abe!" I said, for the first time. "Can we please focus on what's important. Like what are you doing here?"
"I'm here to help, Sofia," Celine's gaze had turned hard and cold, clearly not happy at my tone. "And it looks like you all need it. So can someone explain what happened. How did Mark...die?"
"It was murder." Damien said, his voice so soft that I could hear my heart break. "And worse yet, the body is missing."
"What? Show me. And don't say that word." Celine said, snapping the last part.
"What word? Murder?"
Thunder clapped as the chef spoke. "Yes! That word!" Celine groaned, frustrated. We headed into the room where Mark's body had been discovered, now only the outline of his body was present.
"Well, I mean murder-" Thunder. "-is a rather accurate description of what occur-"
"Stop." I said, ready to kill anyone else who said another word. "She's right, do you not see the lightning?" Celine asked, backing me up.
"You sayin' it was lightning that murdered-" Lightning. "-Mark?"
"Abe, please make an effort to not say word!" I said, exasperated. Damien held my hand as I rubbed my temple. This day kept getting longer and longer.
"Well, Mother Nature doesn't really strike me as having murderous-" Thunder clapped outside, making my headache spike. "-intent... Unless you count that time I was pulled into the board game Jumanji and I-!"
