"At least let me clean the wound!"
"Clary, no! You know what happens if you touch demon ichor."
"I know. It's poisonous to shadowhunters. But..."
"No buts. I am perfectly capable of cleaning it up."
He had gathered all the antiseptics to apply.
A gauge full of peroxide for his gash on his left arm. His stele. And a wrap.
He struggled to get it on there.
"Babe. Just let me..."
She took the gauze from him and applied it to his cut.
"Ouch! That stung."
"Big baby." She muttered.
"What was that?"
"I said you're being so good baby."
"Uh- huh." He eyed her skeptically.
"There. You see the demon ichor is all gone. And I was extra careful."
She threw away the used  contents in the trash.
Washed her hands and went back to where he was.
He grabbed her hands in his.
"Thank you."
"You're very welcome. And anytime."
"You know, you make a good nurse. Maybe you missed your calling in a past life?"
"Um, no. I'm good with small amounts of blood. But anything bigger; that would be a no."
"We should get you a nurses outfit?"
She laughed at that.
"Did you hit your head in battle? We should get that looked at."
"Haha, very funny."
"Well you're the one with the exceptional humor today."
"We could go upstairs and you can exam me more thoroughly? Maybe even draw me a sponge bath?"
"I think someone is feeling a lot better? That iratze sure did work wonders."
He pulled her into his laps. She wrapped her arms around his neck.
"You're the only medicine I need."
His head rested in the crook of her neck. Inhaling the smell of her hair.
It smelled like strawberries.
His arms caressed her back.
"I think we should go upstairs and rest."
"But I feel fine." He protested.
"Humor me."
"Fine. I'm only doing this for you."
She kissed his lips quickly before getting up.
He followed her begrudgingly.
But she knew him enough to know that rest was just what he needed. Even if he didn't seem to think so.
Eventually she got him to bed. His head rested against her chest.
They'd been so spent lately with fighting demons. That every now and then they needed to just be together and rest.
