Scene 1
It had been a couple of days that had passed, and it was the one night that Devi had dreaded for what felt like an eternity. Each day drudging by with agony that Devi felt, not letting Ben get close even though she craved to be with him so much, but trying to let herself heal first before she would allow herself to put down her walls slowly. But it was this night she had dreaded, when she had opened the door to find her mother looking at her sullenly, a look she rarely gets, a look as though her mother had given up. She knew she had found out, her mother didn't need to say a thing. They could read each other, and her mother just looked disappointedly at Devi.
"What do you want me to do?" Devi asked her mother, cautiously. She just shook her head and didn't reply. "Does this mean we will be moving back to India?"
Her mother just had a cold stare, and then nodded her head. "Mum. Please! This is our home. We cant leave here. Ill do anything!"
Her mother looked at her seriously.
"You don't listen to me Devi. I need more help-"
"I'm a teenager! I have a boyfriend and thats what happens sometimes when you have a boyfriend. Why cant you understand that?"
"Not my girl. And I specifically told you that I do not allow it! But you do it anyway."
Then Devi thought... a painful thought came to her mind. But she let it out anyway.
"What if I..." She paused, feeling her heart wrenching with pain. "What if I break up with Ben?" She asked, hurt in her voice, and she could feel tears wanting to swell up in her eyes. Her mother could tell she was serious, and so she was taken back. She thought for a while.
"No boyfriend until you finish school, or until at least the last year of school. Since I can't trust you will do the right thing. And you must come home straight after school everyday." Devi could feel her heart breaking, and started breaking down into tears, swung round and rushed up the stairs, slamming her bedroom door behind her. She buried herself into her bed and cried until she fell asleep.Scene 2
Next day at school Fab and Eleanor could tell something was wrong with Devi when they had seen her walking through the corridor. She just looked so distant, broken, and wounded to her friends. Before her friends could reach her, they noticed Devi and Ben had caught sight of each other as Ben appeared from out of a classroom. Ben could read her, and he had a pained frown grow upon him. He walked over to Devi, staring into her hurting eyes.
"She found out?" He said his expression not changing. Devi nodded her head sorrowful. "What now?" He asked. She felt tears wanting to well up again.
"We can't see each other. Only way she agrees to not leaving."
His eyes grew, and he couldn't believe what he was hearing. He could feel a stinging agonising pain, it was almost paralyzing to him. But he wasn't going to give up, he couldn't.
"I'll talk to her Devi. There has got to be a way she could change her mind. I'll make sure of it." He replied, firmly and determined, unwavering. Devi just looked at him her eyes lost of hope.
"No Ben. You will make it worse." She replied, wiping away a tear.
"Worse then what?" He exclaimed. "I'll talk to her today. I will make her change her mind. She can't do this to us." His eyes fixed on Devi's full of confidence, it actually suprised her. He reached for her hand, not having gotten to hold her for a few days. He felt it's warmth and how soft they were, and feeling the touch of her once again made a radiating heat and energy rush through his veins and throughout his body that made him feel like he alive again. He fixed his eyes on hers, confident and assuringly.
"This mess is mine. And its mine to fix." He said. Devi's lips curled into a little smile and her eyes softened on him. He loved her eyes, and he just wanted to hold her close to him and kiss her, but he held back knowing he didn't want to step beyond what Devi would be ready for still. But it suprised him when she stepped closer to him, and did just that, what he had wanted to. She leaned and kissed him softly, and he couldn't help but smile. He could have just held onto this for a life time, feeling the world fade away, and all their problems.
