Chapter 2

Nagising ako dahil sa sikat ng araw na tumatama sa aking mukha. Umaga na pala. I looked at the clock on the bedside table, it's 7 a.m. Holy shit! 7 a.m.??!! I'll be late for work! Kaasar ampucha! I immediately went inside the bathroom and did my morning rituals. After getting ready, I grabbed my things and went downstairs. Wala na si Mama, I guess she went to work. I did not bother eating breakfast since I'm running late.

I'm currently working at one of the most reputable law firm in the country. After years of cramming, headaches and stress from college and Law School, I am finally a CPA Lawyer.

I got in my car and drove my way to the office. Although wala akong naka-schedule na hearing ngayon, I have tons of cases to study and review. Nang makarating ako ay agad akong nag-park sa parking space na reserved para sa mga empleyado. I gave everyone who greeted me a small smile. Nang makapasok ako sa elevator ay agad kong pinindot ang 7th floor.

Napatigil pa ako dahil nalanghap ko ang pamilyar na amoy. It can't be. He can't be here. Siguro naman ay hindi lang siya ang may gano'ng amoy. I think I'm being paranoid again. I shrugged that thought and went out of the elevator. A bunch of people once again greeted me and as usual, tipid ko silang nginitian. 

I went inside my office and sat down. My secretary followed me and gave me a cup of coffee and a sandwich for breakfast. Ria has been working for me for quite some time and I can say na alam niya na ang mga ayaw at gusto ko. She's an efficient secretary and I'm glad I hired the right person.

"May ipapagawa pa po ba kayo Ma'am?" she asked after reminding me of my schedule for today. 

 "I told you not to call me Ma'am anymore. You can call me Adi, and no, wala pa naman akong ipapagawa sa ngayon. I'll call you if meron." 

 "Noted Ma'am Adi-- ay! Adi hehe." I laughed a little. Halatang hindi siya sanay na tawagin ako sa pangalan ko. 

After she left, I ate my breakfast then checked my phone. I got a text message from Kayle, my best friend. She's asking me for a night out. Hindi pa rin talaga nagbabago ang gaga, party girl pa rin, pero siguro occassionally na lang since we're both busy with our own work. She's now a nurse at hanggang ngayon ay nagtataka pa rin ako kung paano siya naka-survive sa Med School eh halos gabi-gabi siyang laman ng mga bar noon. Well, I guess it's just a matter of time management. And I admit, matalino talaga ang babaeng 'yon. 

I replied and told her that I'll come since I think I need a break because I have been drowning myself with work ever since I started working here. She sent me the details and told me na kasama si Zane, my other best friend and her boyfriend na madalas mapagkamalan na boyfriend ko. I don't know why, siguro dahil madalas kaming makitang magkasama since we're on the same field. Kayle's fine with it though, I mean she knows me more than I know myself and that I will never betray her. Like duh! Kahit hindi niya boyfriend si Zane, hindi ko pa rin papatulan ang lalaking 'yon. Never in my wildest dreams. Alam ko ang bawat likaw ng bituka 'non kaya never talaga! Buti na lang napagti-tiyagaan ni Kayle ang kakulitan 'non. But kidding aside, I think they're meant to be together. They compliment each other like they were meant just for each other and I'm happy for them. I just hope that one day, I'll have my own love story like theirs.

I am currently reading a case when someone knocked at the door. The door opened and Zane came in.

"Hindi ko pa nga sinasabing pwede ka nang pumasok, pumasok ka na. Wala ka talagang manners," sabi ko sa kaniya nang maka-upo siya sa tapat ng desk ko.

" Manners? 'Di ba yung sikat na boxer 'yan? Si Manners Paquiao? At saka anong gusto mo i-take 2 ko yung pagpasok ko dito? Eh di nagmukha akong tanga."
