Frank and Gerard spent about a week in total planning their escape. They had yet to mention it all to Josh though. In that time they had also made it official that they were dating.
"So lets go over this one more time before we get Josh in on this." Frank stated before picking up the journal and map they used to plan the whole scheme.
"So when Josh goes into labour at the camp, an ambulance will be called by one of the workers. When they haul Josh onto the gurney and into the back of the ambulance, we will have him ask them to get something really quickly out of his cabin. Something that sounds important enough to have. While one of the people go fetch whatever it is (we will have Josh decide) the other will be guarding the door. We will get Tyler to go up to the worker still there and ask them if they can help him with something. He will lead the worker over to a part of the ambulance where they cant see inside. Thats when we get up from the nearby picnic table and rush into the ambulance without being seen. We will hide behind some equipment. When we are hidden well enough Josh will say the code that lets Tyler know he can stop stalling and get into the ambulance with us. Thats around the time the first worker will return with the item Josh asked them to get."
"They will drive the ambulance (with us inside) to the closest hospital which is riverview. By the time we get to the hospital someone from the camp will notice we're gone so we will have to make the next part of the plan quick. The second they pull over we hop out of the ambulance before they can get out and sprint into the hospital. The camp will have alerted the front desk that they are looking for us. Thats exactly why we go there. We will talk to the person at the front desk about all the abuse and other horrible things happening at this camp. (Like what josh mentioned about Lindsey taking personal offence: whatever that means). The hospital will be forced to keep us as they run tests on us. You will have had your 18th birthday already so your parents wont be called. I will still be 17 so legally a minor but if i play my cards right i can convince them that we are siblings and that i can go with you. Then we will be off on our own and the police will investigate the camp and everyone will be free!" Frank exclaimed.
"And we're sure that this is going to work?" Gerard asked. Frank nodded.
"Okay, i trust you." Gerard smiled.***
The two explained their elaborate plan to Josh who was incredibly excited about it.
"You mean we're actually gonna get out of this place!?" He screeched, pulling the two in for a hug. They nodded hugging him back.
"Im in."***
Josh decided that today was the day to finally tell Tyler about their baby on the way. Josh had been keeping it a secret for too long at this point and it wasn't fair to Tyler.
It wasn't that he thought Tyler wouldn't be accepting and happy, he just didn't know how to announce something like this. When was the right time? How would he start the conversation? How would Tyler react?
Josh was almost in tears just thinking about it. What if Tyler didn't want the baby? What if he wasn't ready to become a father? It was too far into the pregnancy to do anything about it. Already 8 months along.
Last night Josh had told Tyler to meet him in the Treehouse so he could tell him something important today. They had agreed to meet in 20 minutes and Josh was panicking.
He took a deep breath and headed out of his and Franks cabin towards the treehouse. Frank and Gerard's kind words rang through his head like a loud bell. "You've got this dude!" "You're gonna be okay!" "He will be so happy and supportive, Im sure of it."
But at the same time, negative possibilities ran through his head as well. "We can't have a baby Josh!" "Im too young to be a father." "We can't be together anymore." Josh shook his head trying to drain his head of such horrible thoughts.
The possibilities still stood.
Josh stood starring at the old wood of the treehouse. He ran his fingers along the plants that grew up along the posts that kept the place standing. He sighed heavily before clasping onto the third step and starting to climb.
***
Tyler sat waiting patiently for Josh to arrive in the treehouse. He sat fiddling with a few things people had previously left in the treehouse. A small lighter that Tyler assumed to be Gerard's considering he was one of the only people who smoked who also hung out in the treehouse. A glass bottle covered in a thin chipped coat of paint that came together to form the shape of flowers in a garden, it had to be Kristens. A small bag with beige powder in it, crushed cheerios that Ray was probably trying to sell to his next scamming victim, it was usually Kristen who fell for it.
Tyler was pulled from his observations as Josh opened the hatch to the treehouse and pulled himself inside.
Josh took a seat on the bench across from Tyler. "Hey. So, there's something Ive been meaning to tell you for a while now." Josh started, taking a moment to brush some dirt off his pants. Tyler smiled softly.
***
"Ray do you know where Gerard is?" Frank asked, picking at his nails in an attempt to calm his nerves.
"Yeah actually, he's up at my cabin taking a shower." Ray smiled.
"You can go check on him if you like, I don't mind."
"Thanks." Frank smiled sincerely before taking off in the direction of Rays cabin.***
Frank opened the door to Rays cabin. He could hear the water running coming from the bathroom. He decided to wait on what he assumed was Rays bed considering it was covered in Cheerio dust and had a massive Jar of liquorice on the bed side table.
Rays roommate wasn't there so Frank assumed he or she must just be spending time with his or her friends outside. He looked around the room while he waited for Gerard to finish up.
The other bed in the cabin had a yellow comforter and painting supplies littered the bed side table. Paintings of all sizes scattered the walls all around the bed frame. He figured Rays roommate must be an artist or something.
Thats when he realized that Gerard had left his things right outside the bathroom door. It was a pile of clothes, presumably the ones he had been wearing before he got in the shower, his phone and a previously opened envelope.
Frank knew it was wrong, he should trust his boyfriend after all but he couldn't bring himself to stop once the letter was in his shaking hands.
