(This makes a lot more sense if like, you read my other story "The Leader...?" because that has all of the backstory. Also this is kinda, chapter 5-ish, but before Kokichi goes all, 'I'm the mastermind' and also the flashback light is earlier, so that they can all see it.)
Kokichi looked up at his hand once again, questioning where the hell this ring came from. He couldn't remember when, or how he got it no matter how much soul searching he did. However, he never felt the need to take it off. In fact, he felt like it was something important. If he was to take it off, something bad would happen. Well, not really. That's just how he felt.
There was a knock at his door, but he didn't answer. He didn't have a reason to come out of his room, so why would he? He stayed laying in his bed, continuing to stare at his hand. "I don't think he's in there." The voice of Maki came from the other side of the door.
"The Monopad says he is." Shuichi shot back.
"I don't trust the annoying bear to make sure his technology works." Maki huffed. There was a small silence between them. "I'm just going to go back to the dining hall. Come back when you're ready." Kokichi could faintly hear Maki's footsteps get quieter, as she left.
Shuichi sighed, knocking on the door again. "Kokichi, if you are in there, I'm here to tell you that there's a Flashback Light." Kokichi perked up, sitting up in his bed and staring at his door. "I thought you might be interested." Kokichi thought for a moment, before he shrugged and jumped off the bed, running to his door. He quickly swung it open, which startled Shuichi.
"Nishishi, why didn't you just say so?" Kokichi grinned. "I can't believe it, though. I didn't think that anyone would care about giving me my memories back after killing both Miu and Gonta!" Kokichi ignored the guilt he felt at saying those words. "Don't tell me, are you just as evil and cynical as me, Shuichi?"
Shuichi sighed again, shaking his head. "No, I just thought...." He trailed off, seeming to realize something.
Kokichi raised an eyebrow. "Huh? What's up? Are you considering the fact that what you said hurt my feelings?" Kokichi laughed. "Ha! Supreme Leaders don't have time for feelings, so you don't have to feel so bad! Plus, it's true! I will be alone, and I'm completely fine with it!" That's a lie. Kokichi thought bitterly, however keeping the smile on his face.
Shuichi blinked, pulling himself out of his daze. "A-Ah, no, I just got the strangest sense of deja vu, remembering what I said." Shuichi winced. "I-I'm sorry, I was mad."
Kokichi frowned. "Seriously? You're apologizing to me?" Kokichi let out an irritated sigh. "Ugh, you're so flimsy! You need to figure out how to stand up for yourself!"
Shuichi nodded. "I-I know. A friend of mine told me that before."
"Hm? Who was it?" Kokichi asked. Shuichi hesitated, thinking for a moment.
Shuichi ran a hand through his hair. "I don't... I don't remember." Kokichi paused, before he shook his head and pushed past him.
"Well, whatever!" He said brightly. "I'll see you there, I guess!" Kokichi left Shuichi behind, heading to the dining hall alone. His smile dropped off his face the moment Shuichi couldn't see, immediately getting lost in thought. This has been happening to the two of us ever since this killing game started. Strange senses of deja vu, and seeming to never be able to leave each other alone. Kokichi huffed, crossing his arms. I would say it's annoying, but I do have the strangest sense of comfort when I'm with him. Kokichi thought about how he'd labeled Shuichi trustworthy on his board. I shouldn't think like that. He could be the mastermind, for all I know. He could be lying, I don't know. I'll figure it out eventually.
