Location: The Daniel's residence (dining room)
Kenzie's POV
"Who got an 'A' today?" My dad asked
"I got an A", I replied joyfully
Today was my school's culture day. We all spoke on our culture and we were judged. I know Ms. Caly gave me an 'A' because of what happened last week. When it was my turn to speak, I had to set the stage right for others Blacks, I was the first Black to speak. In my family, it is recorded that my great great great great great great, I don't know the number of greats. There was a Nigerian in my family line and he's my great ancestor. I got a 10 out of 10 in the design because Zen is my sister.
"Did you appreciate your sister?"My mum asked serving the fries
"My bad," I said hitting my head
"Do so, will you?"
"Of course mum, thank you Zen" I appreciated
"You're welcome" She replied
She's been a bit off ever since she returned from school. She went straight to her room and changed to all black. Black sweatpants, blouse, sneaker, bandana, earpiece and went for a run. She does this when she's so angry. My parents nearly went to the police station to report a case of a missing individual. She returned sweating profusely around 7: 30PM. My mum was on the verge of tears.
"On my way from my workplace, I got us tickets to the cinema" My mum announced
"Awesome sauce" I reacted
Things are going great. First the party this weekend, and now we're going to the cinema. For two weeks, I've only been in school, and at home.
"What movie is that dear?" My dad inquired
"The Revival" She responded
"Genre?" He asked further
"Drama, comedy and humor" She answered
Can this get any better? My three favorite genres.
"When are we going, mum?" I questioned
"Sunday night, eight o'clock" She responded
"Cool" I appended
"Aren't you excited Zen?" Tom added
My dad is bad when it comes to reading people He should have known better than to ask her. Even my mum that's not a practicing psychologist hasn't spoken to her yet. She's obviously not in the mood
"I'm not in the mood dad" She responded twirling her hair
She loves doing that she's nervous or cooling down after she's angry. Well, she doesn't get angry easily, whosoever did this to her must have a Ph.D. in annoying people
"Oh dear, wanna tell me what's wrong?" Tasha enquired
"Nothing I can't handle mum" She stated playing with the ketchup
"Are you sure? You can always say what's on your mind" She stated further
"I know mum but I'm fine" She replied sharply
If I were my mum, I'll leave her to calm down before I speak to her.
"If you say so" My mum appended
"So, how was Culture day today?" My dad asked with his mouthful of food
"Great. I spoke about the Nigerian Culture. And more importantly, I did not experience racism today" I expressed
