"It means that maybe you should let someone in."

"What in Hades is that supposed to mean?" Luke demanded.

Ethan shrugged. "Maybe If you talk to someone you won't feel as trapped."

"Who said I feel trapped?"

Ethan rolled his eyes. "I thought we already came to that conclusion? You're eyes say you're trapped."

"I said I didn't know I did that. So how can you assume it's because I feel trapped?"

"If it's so natural that you don't even notice, there had to be a reason. Feeling trapped is the only logical one." Ethan said simply.

Luke scoffed.

"Am I wrong?"

No. Luke thought. But he answered differently.

"Yes."

The boys fell silent.

A few moments later, Ethan spoke. "Who taught you to fight?"

"Chiron, the Hermes councilor before me, and other people I've sparred with or fought."

"Ah." Ethan nodded.

"And you taught yourself?" Luke asked.

"For the most part." Ethan shrugged. "I had a little training at camp."

Luke nodded. "Interesting."

The boys went quiet once more, a sort of timid silence that would shatter if one breathed just a little louder.

"So... should we go?" Ethan asked after a few moments, the silence finally getting to him.

"Ah, so scared of me you just have to go?" Like asked jokingly.

Ethan laughed and Luke's heart skipped a beat. What in Hades?!

"No, I probably could stay, but I figure you have stuff to do." Ethan said.

Luke nodded. "You're right. Continue the training tomorrow then."

Ethan smiled. "Yeah."

And when Kelli came and took Ethan to his room Luke felt strangely alone.
