"are you not going to take that thing to the aps?" mark asked the next morning when he saw renjun playing on the couch with the white cat.
"i already like him too much..." renjun whined, wrapping his arms around the cat, making mark roll his eyes. "i told chenle about him."
"him?"
"yeah." renjun lifted the kitten to show mark. "it's a boy!"
mark almost spit his cereal back into his bowl. "thanks, renjun, but i didn't need to see that."
renjun giggled. "what am i going to name you...?" he asked. "do you have an idea mark?"
"trash?" mark mumbled. "since you found him there."
renjun caressed the kitten's head. "mark is such a grumpy human isn't him? i hope you'll manage to brighten his days... oh! sunny! what about sunny? or sun? you know mark?"
"honestly, i don't care." mark rolled his eyes, continuing to eat his cereal while scrolling on his phone.
"you're not helpful mark. i'll ask chenle about it." renjun told. "is it okay if i leave the kitten with you today? i need to go and buy him food and supplies."
"yeah..." mark answered without thinking. "wait, what?! no! hina is supposed to come here!"
renjun wiggled his brows. "someone is finally going to make a move..."
"yeah." mark blushed. "and i don't want your stupid cat to be in the way."
"stop insulting him. he's the cutest thing ever, if this kitten doesn't help you getting hina and you together... then there's a big problem."
mark raised his brows. "excuse me, but how can this..." he pointed at the white cat who was rubbing his head against the armrest. "help me get together with a girl?"
"it's cute! it will melt her heart!"
"sure..." mark rolled his eyes.
"if it doesn't, i promise i'll bring him to the aps."
"deal." mark nodded.
^.^
"hello hina!" mark said opening the door of his house. "please come in."
"thank you." the girl smiled, entering the house.
mark and hina had been in the same class for three years now.
mark had had feelings for her ever since he laid his eyes on her. however, they first talked together last year, when their teacher assigned them a project together. and this year, they started talking more often.
needless to say, mark wanted to ask her out but was very stressed because of the popularity the girl had; she was courted by many boys at school, and mark was a nobody compared to the tons of popular guys that she could have...
anyway, it was usual for hina to come at mark and renjun's. she did come every now and then. to talk with mark, watch tv or basically do nothing. the rest of the time, they would go out to cafés or to the park. they weren't together. they were just friends. not a couple.
blame it on mark, he was too scared to ask her out. he didn't even know if she would accept his feelings.
"do you want something to drink?" mark asked kindly.
"water will do, thanks."
mark nodded before heading to the kitchen and pouring two glasses of water. when he was halfway done, he heard hina let out a loud squeak from the living room, worrying him.
he quickly got there, the two glasses in his hands, ready to fight whatever thing had scared his girl, but his jaw dropped at the sight. hina was sitting on the floor, a white kitten in her arms that she was caressing with a big smile.
"you never told me you had a cat mark!" she exclaimed amazed by the small creature in her arms.
mark cursed in his head. renjun was right. nobody could resist kittens these days...
"yeah... surprise! he's a new comer." mark said sheepishly, putting the two glasses of water on the table.
"what's his name?"
"i don't know. renjun and i didn't really decide yet." mark admitted. well, this kitten wasn't his, but he would never admit it to hina. she seemed so happy to see the cat that mark couldn't break her heart telling her that it didn't belong to him.
"oh..."
"but he was thinking about something like 'sun' or 'sunny', i don't really know tho- "
"mark?" hina asked him her head very close to the cat's ear. "have you got a magnifying glass anywhere?"
mark looked at her with wide eyes, not understanding why she had asked for that.
"a-a magnifying glass?"
"yeah, there's an inscription tattooed in his ear, look." hina explained, approaching the kitten from mark who backed away.
"yeah, i'll go look for it."
after a dozen of minutes, mark was back with what hina had asked him. he handed her the object and looked at her placing it above the cat's pointy ear.
"hae...chan."
"what?"
"that's what it says. haechan." hina replied letting the cat go.
"strange."
"it's probably its name, don't you think?"
"it could be." mark shrugged. "anyway, enough of paying attention to this cat!"
"it's cute though..." hina whined, making grabby hands towards the furry animal that had curled up into a ball on one of the armchairs.
"i'm cuter." mark pouted, making hina laugh.
okay, maybe mark had a chance to win hina's heart.
