cat fight - nct, markhyuck

life had come back to its normal course.

mark and donghyuck living in mark and renjun's shared house. mark going to school. haechan making a mess inside the house... the usual.

renjun was coming back in four days. his grandmother was going better, which was good news for everybody.

the doorbell interrupted mark who was working on his homework due the next day.

it wasn't exactly late at night, but it wasn't early either. the sky outside was already pitch black and mark stomach was grumbling, signalling that it was time from him to prepare dinner. haechan, who was in his cat form, followed him to the front door.

"hello?" mark opened the door, revealing a boy, few years younger than him.

"good evening, i'm park jisung. i just moved in the house across from yours with my family. my parents asked me to come and inform you that there might be a bit of noise tonight because we're bringing the furniture in." the boy said with a smile, holding out his hand for a handshake.

mark voluntarily shook the boy's hand. "it's okay. thank you for telling me. i'm mark lee by the way. welcome to the neighbourhood."

"thanks." jisung added before leaving towards his house.

mark smiled one last time before closing the door and turning around.

"ah..." he sighed. "time for dinner. cat food for you, donghyuck? or do you want to eat something with me?" he asked, head in the fridge.

as the cat wasn't responding, mark called his name again.

"donghyuck?"

he closed the fridge, looking around him.

"haechan? where are you?"

and then, it was too late.

before he could do anything, he heard barks outside his house and in response to these barks, a loud mewl. mark rushed to his door, fumbling with the keys to open it and then crossing the road at the speed of light to take out his cat from the two giant dalmatians that were trying to eat him.

"jupiter! neptune!" jisung got out of his own house, rushing where mark was to pull the two dogs by their collars.

"haechan, are you okay?" mark asked, picking the cat in his arms.

jisung threw the two dogs inside his own house with force. even once the door was closed, they kept barking loudly.

"i'm sorry, i didn't know it was your cat." jisung said. "i saw it when i got out of your house, but i thought he was just living in the street. i let him wander around. and just a second ago, a mover opened the door to take the sofa in and jupiter and neptune just jumped on it." jisung explained, looking at the trembling cat in mark's hands.
