This school year seems to be flying by. I am so busy with the school play, public school, Evans Algebra lessons, and my extra online classes that my mom oversees. Study club started dissolving as the school year headed to an end, but I keep the tradition of going to the library every day after school. Uyu had to drop out of the school play and study group to start a part-time job ironically in the cafe we met. He is doing well there, and he can help his mom out with their family's expenses, but I see how tired he is. We meet in the park every Sunday to talk. Grey spots have formed under his eyes, and he doesn't talk with the passions we once shared.
The days have started to get longer and warmer so a few times In the evening when everyone is occupied I'll slip out the back door and tap on Uyu's window to ask if he wants to watch the sunset turn to night. We lay side by side in the grass and wait for the stars to appear. Uyu loves to hear about what I'm publishing in the school paper before it is out the next day so I read him the headlines, what got chosen, and what was denied. We laugh at some of the corny stories students want to publish.
