Catch me asking Jackie to be my girlfriend in the middle of a battle. But I mean it wOrkEd- I was so freaking happy right now, and I could tell Jackie was too.
But the only thing standing in our way was this nasty egg Adrestia.
"Lay one finger on her and I'll choke you, rat face." I yelled at her. Aww, catch me being an A+ boyfriend three seconds into our relationship.
"LUKA- " Adrestia roared, almost face to face with me at this point. Chiron was still standing off to the side in full panic mode, and I caught sight of Jackie's backpack in his arms. I let go of Jackie's shoulder and ran over to him, snagging Artemis' arrow out of the bag before Chiron could fully protest, and then ran back just in time to step in front of Jackie, coming nose to nose with the ratty goddess.
"Luka Del Rosso..." She whispered in the most deadly tone I'd ever heard, "I'm giving you one. Last. Chance. To hand over those relics, or I will just have to take them from you myself and destroy everything in my path."
Now you may be wondering, why did you grab the arrow Luka? The relics aren't working remember? Here's the sauce, I have a plan.
"Luka, what the fuck are you doing?!" Jackie whispered through gritted teeth.
This, Jack Jack, I thought as I took the tip of the arrow and shoved it up Adrestia's ass.
Yes.
I just shoved an arrow up the buttocks of a goddess.
Adrestia screamed. I wasn't exactly sure if I could hurt a god, but apparently I could. She stumbled back a few steps falling on her bum.
Which drove the arrow even farther up her arse.
Oops.
"Luka what the fu- OH MY GODS!" Jackie lowered her shotgun, her expression of shock turning into something more amused and she cackled, staring at me incredulously. "I can't believe you actually just did that!"
Completely ignoring the demigods and Chiron who were yelling at me, I yanked the bag with all the relics out of Chiron's hand and walked over to where Adrestia was rolling around in pain. "Here are your relics." I said, dumping the backpack at my feet and snatching up riptide, uncapping the pen.
For a second nothing happened, but then a glowing bronze sword appeared in my hands. Whatever magic that had been put on the relics to make them not work, had been washed away when I stabbed the bitch in the bottom, distracting her I guess?
I was hoping that something like this would happen so we could actually use the relics to our advantage. I came up with this plan in 0.4 seconds because... you know I'm a smart cookie.
Shove something up the enemies ass, and then kill them all.
Taking riptide, I closed my eyes, (because I'm a wimp and hate looking at injuries, blood etc.) and slit Adrestia's throat.
"THE SON OF A BITCH KILLED HER!!" Someone from behind me yelled. "Well technically she's not dead, per say, but gone for a VERY long time-" Annabeth said, panting. She had been busy fighting monsters but had raced over at the sounds of Adrestia's screams. "Goddesses can't die-"
I opened one eye, squinting a little at the almost decapitated goddess in front of me. Golden ichor poured from her neck. It wasn't exactly blood, but it was still kind of nasty.
"Ok so now I have two friends who have killed a goddess! Piper killed Khione... And now you killed Adrestia!" Leo exclaimed.
"Hold the pHOne, since when were we friends?" I seethed, looking back at him with a death glare.
Jackie smirked, "While you were shoving things up people's asses, I threatened him."
I shook my head and made a pouty face, "I don't want to be his friend."
Before Jackie could answer me with some snarky remark, Chiron butted in. "Luka, that was insanely stupid of you. I hope you now have some plan as to how we're going to kill the rest of this army?"
He was right, I am pretty stupid. And the battle was still in full swing. We needed another plan. The army of monsters was still surging forwards, the demigods falling farther back into camp.
"Luka!" I heard Jackie shout, and I turned, rushing to her side when I noticed she was on the ground.
"Are you okay? What happe-"
I stopped as she opened her palm, revealing Zeus's bull talisman. Our eyes met, hers flickering with determination, and I smiled.
"Let's do this thing."
Wrapping my fingers around her own, we raised the talisman towards the sky, sending up a quick prayer to Zeus.
Thunder rumbled ominously overhead as clouds began forming in the sky above at a rapid pace, blocking out the sun. Lightning shocked the ground at random, lighting up the battlefield every few seconds in a powerful flash of light and crackling of electricity. Soon rain was pounding down around us, soaking through our clothing, and screams echoed throughout the battlefield.
But not demigod screams... These were monster screams. They were disintegrating around us rapidly, bursting into dust that was quickly swept away by the rain, and soon there were only a few strays who had avoided contact. The storm began to ebb, and Jackie hauled herself to her feet, leaving me with the relic. I dropped Zeus's talisman on the ground and stood, watching Jackie teeter across the ground as the storm parted above us, vanishing as if it had never existed.
She picked up a stray sword on the ground and approached the very last monster left on the battlefield. "Die you son of a literal whore, I hate you." She said through gritted teeth, before killing it in a higHLY gruesome way.
"Ew." I said, my voice raspy. Jackie turned around at the sound of my voice and kicked the monster dust underneath her, stumbling over to me and throwing her arms around my neck.
We did it.
We actually did it. Adrestia was gone, the monsters were gone, and we won.
The rest of the day was hectic. There were many demigod casualties. We had to clean up and start to repair all the damage that had been inflicted on camp, and from the storm that we had created. Luckily, no one on our side had died or even gotten hurt from the storm, thank the gods.
The sun had started to set when I found Jackie with Annabeth. They seemed to be in a deep conversation, but I felt like interrupting anyways.
"I hope whatever you two are talking about isn't too important because I'd like to steal my girlfriend away." I said, lacing my fingers through Jackie's.
"Nope!" Jackie exclaimed enthusiastically. "I love stealing, please, be my guest."
I smirked, giving a little wave to Annabeth who chuckled, waving back as we walked away.
We sat on the beach, leaning up against a tree, and I put my arm around Jackie. Wow look at us, being an actual normal couple.
Kissing the top of her head lightly, we sat there in the cool ocean breeze and just enjoyed each other's presence.
Jackie looked happier than I had ever seen her before.
"I love you," I whispered into her messy hair, realizing that I hadn't actually said it properly before. Glancing up at me, Jackie grinned, attacking me with a shower of kisses. We fell onto the sand, laughing and kissing each other. Grabbing my face, Jackie looked at me with those beautiful hazel eyes, studying my face.
"I love you too, dumbass."
I guess old nicknames never fade away.
We stayed like that for a while, laughing and rolling around on the beach, just overall enjoying eachothers company.
For the first time since my mom died, I was happy. Coming to terms with her death and realizing that maybe Grandpa wasn't so much in the wrong, were two things that I reallllllyyy had needed to do.
But now, I'd met my favourite person, and no matter how hard it was to get where we are, at least we did it.
And plus, who needs equilibrium when you have love.
