"Woah! That look like it hurt!" exclaimed Octane as he finished off the last of Wraith's squad.

"There's only one team left." stated Wattson, looking around as she recharged her shields and Mirage chuckled.

"It's that bot, Path, right? Think he camped out." he said and Octane almost pouted.

"I feel bad for taking him out. He didn't have a teammate." said the speedy Legend, but Wattson noticed that he was reloading quickly and eagerly scouting the area.

The last ring was at the edge of King's Canyon and if Path didn't come out soon they would all be lost to the ring.

"We should lure him out." said Mirage and Wattson nodded.

"How? He knows that we're the last ones left." said Octane, tapping his foot impatiently. He obviously needed to get moving.

At this Wattson grabbed his hand lightly and the daredevil felt a strange sense of calm rushing through his system. He looked at her and she smiled innocently.

"It'll be fine. We'll leave him to you. I'll set up my traps all around to throw him off, then Mirage can deploy his decoys. He'll be so busy trying to figure out who the real one is that he won't see you coming." she said and Octane felt his throat constrict.

"They never do!" he managed to grin and she giggled lightly. Mirage smirked and Octane shot him a look he couldn't see.

"Alright. Now if I was Path. Where would I be?" muttered Octane as he ran forward, sliding through the valley. He stimmed up and placed down a jump pad.

As soon as he was in the air, he felt a bullet whiz right past his ear.

"Hello friend!" called Path and Octane laughed hysterically.

"There you are!" he grinned and pretended to panic. He rushed away, taking out a shield cell and grinned when Path started to run after him, firing off shots.

He had a Sentinel.

"Dangerous." grinned Octane and led Path right into a fence. The robot immediately backed away, aiming for Octane, only to get confused when Mirage's decoys surrounded him. The real Mirage running in circles with them.

Octane stimmed up then slid forward, doing a complete one eighty on the ground and headshotting Path.

Path fell, trying to revive, when Octane loomed over him.

He finished the robot, ending the game.

"We won!" cheered Wattson when they reappeared in the drop ship and Octane laughed loudly. Without thinking anything of it, she tackled him in a hug and he froze.

"That was my first win on my first day! You're a great teammate Octane." she breathed and his heart slammed against his ribcage as he hugged back hesitantly, his arms around her waist.

"Muchos gracias, hermosa. De nada." he said and she blinked.

"What?"

He found himself laughing at this and she blushed, pulling back and shifting on her feet. "Great work guys." said Mirage, holding out a fist for Wattson to bump and she tapped it shyly.

Octane smiled down at her, then jumped when he heard the clearing of a throat.

Caustic had just gotten up after being healed and was staring at Wattson.

"You did very well on your first game Ms. Paquette." he said in his low voice and Wattson beamed. "Thank you Mr. Nox! Octane is a good teammate." she said and Mirage pouted. "What about me?" he huffed and Octane snickered.

Caustic gave Octane a strange look, then went back to the corner. Sitting in silence.

"Wow. The newbie gets a win on the first try? Thanks for making us look like noobs, Octane." grunted Bangalore.

"It wasn't just me. She's good. She actually kept up with me." he said, his mind wondering.

During the entire game she had given him the best orders and she hadn't once told him not to rush. Instead she used his rushing tactic to distract their enemies. It worked out amazingly.

He liked working with some other Legends. Wraith Especially because her portal plus his speed made a good combination but they all complained that he was too fast or went too far away all the time.

Sometimes they even told him just to sit back till the end cause he would get in the way. But of course he never listened.

In fact he thought Wraith and Wattson were the only ones to get him to listen to anything they said. He only even listened to Mirage cause he liked the guy and even then, he would still be in his own zone.

And Caustic, but that was because he didn't want to die of gas suffocation. Very painful. He knew because they had been on opposing teams before.

"I'm surprised you actually listened to her." muttered Lifeline and the others laughed.

Octane felt attacked but he didn't let it show, instead laughing along with them.

It wasn't his fault he couldn't keep still.

Not only did it annoy him but, it was better to always keep moving. At least, in his opinion. If you stayed still you were too vulnerable. And more often then not you could get stuck or surrounded, then killed.

They just never saw it his way.

But Wattson did.

Your Apex Champions.

The screen showed Wattson, Octane and Mirage and everyone cheered and clapped politely.

The ship landed later at the Apex Complex and everyone began leaving to their rooms.

Octane inwardly sighed and glanced over at Wattson.

"Hey Wattson, I never got your name." he said and she turned. "Oh! That's right. I'm Natalie. Natalie Paquette." she smiled, holding out a hand for him to shake and he rolled his eyes.

He pulled her into a hug and she blushed, her eyes wide.

"Well Lele, I'm Octavio Silva. I hope we work together again soon." he said and Wattson swallowed, her stomach feeling all fluttery for some reason.

"I do too." she said and Octane finally pulled back. The two stared at one another until someone coughed and Octane jumped.

He gave a nervous laugh, then sped off down the hall.
