Natalie inwardly screamed, her face on fire as she got dressed.
The games were at four that day but she didn't want to get ready late so she put on her outfit, brushing her hair down neatly and looking at herself.
Of course she knew she would get sweaty and dirty later but she still wanted to look decent for..
Her heart jumped and she let out a literal squeal, jumping when someone cleared their throat. She whipped around and blushed when she saw that Mr. Nox was standing there in casual clothing, his head tilted.
"Where were you this morning? You missed breakfast." he stated, placing a plate of food down on her desk. It was filled with breakfast food and she smiled appreciatively.
"I was with Octavio." she replied quickly, then realized what she said. Mr. Nox narrowed his eyes. "Oh? He didn't do anything to you, correct?" he said and Natalie shook her head as she took her plate and began eating the eggs.
"No. I.." she trailed off and Mr. Nox waited patiently.
"I had a nightmare and he comforted me. He didn't do anything bad." she said softly and she didn't notice the way Mr. Nox seemed to relax. "I see. Octavio is..eccentric but he is nicer than a few of the other Legends. Proceed with caution around everyone, Ms. Paquette." he said and she nodded.
"I will." he nodded once, then paused.
"The others are in the Paradise Lounge if you wish to be social." he said, then left her room, closing the door gently.
Natalie breathed out and shook her head.
She finished her food then put on some lip gloss..because her lips were chapped. Not because of a certain daredevil at all.
Just remember, you two just met. Friendship first.
But she couldn't deny that from the moment she introduced herself to him that they had some kind of connection. And she wasn't talking about the shock she got when they touched. That was perfectly normal.
She shook her head and left the room, reminding herself to take her plate down to the cafeteria later.
As she made her way to the Paradise Lounge, she could hear laughter and shouting, even the sound of games.
"Oi amigo, it wasn't like that!" came the slightly annoyed voice of Octavio and Natalie's heart jumped as she stood in the door.
Octavio was shoving the real Elliot out of his seat while he proceeded to smirk and laugh.
"Oh yeah then-"
"There she is! The little Legend that got a win on her first try!" came Makoa's (Gibraltar) boisterous and warm voice and everyone turned, clapping.
Natalie blushed deeply, her bangs covering her eyes slightly as she entered the room.
"I didn't do too much. It was mostly thanks to Octavio and Elliot." she mumbled shyly, jumping when she felt an arm around her shoulder.
She looked up and almost squealed out loud when she saw that it was Octavio. The daredevil was dressed in one of his signature outfits, his Gold Rush one. A lot of his fans liked it but he only wore it on occasion.
But what was the occasion?
Was it because of her?
She inwardly groaned at her thoughts. He can wear what he wants when he wants.
"Didn't do much? You kept up with me hermosa. That's a lot. Without your strategies we probably would've lost." he grinned. She of course couldn't see his face then but she could just hear the grin somehow.
"No, no. It was all you." she mumbled as she let him lead her to a stool beside Elliot. He took the seat beside her, bouncing up and down excitedly.
"Nah. If it were Octavio, you all would've been down several times and still somehow won. He's a rusher. That's all he does." said Renée and Natalie frowned slightly. Octavio laughed but it was different from the ones yesterday and when they were alone.
This laugh sounded forced to her.
She didn't like that.
"That may be true but his strategy is actually really good. If he keeps moving around the way he does, the enemies focus so much on him, they never see his other teammates. If you can't understand that tactic, it's on you. When he rushes you should go left, your other teammate should go right and close in on them. Sometimes situations are different but this works quite often." she found herself retorting and Elliot's eyes widened.
In fact the whole room seemed to be staring at her strangely but she barely noticed with how irritated she was. She didn't understand what was wrong with Octavio's way of playing the game. They all had different styles, rushing was his.
And it worked for him. It wasn't his fault it didn't work for everyone. He was fast and he knew this so he used it to his advantage.
"You didn't have to get so defensive. Everyone knows it's true. Even Octavio." said Renée, shrugging and now Natalie glared around at everyone.
"Do you all even think about how he feels when you keep saying things like that? What if I kept talking about how you always leave the game as soon as you get downed?" she said, eyes narrowed at Renée and the portal warping Legend stiffened.
"Or how you can walk straight through Makoa's shield even if you're an enemy." Makoa chuckled sheepishly.
The others looked around at each other then Elliot looked to Octavio, who had been silent.
"Is that true buddy? Do we make you feel bad?" he asked, actually sounding concerned and Octavio scratched his neck sheepishly.
"Ah..a bit, compadré." he finally said and Elliot huffed, shoving the younger male lightly.
"You should've said something dude." he groaned and the others laughed. "Sorry Oc. We'll lay off you sometimes." said Anita, smiling and the others nodded their agreement.
Even Renée seemed sheepish.
"Gracias." smiled Octavio and everyone began talking again.
Natalie gave a satisfied smile and turned to Octavio who was now staring at her. She couldn't see his expression but she had the feeling it was intense.
"You didn't have to do that." he said quietly, not noticing that Elliot was watching from the side of his eye and Natalie leaned forward, kissing the brim of his helmet and leaving a pink stain in the shape of her lips.
"I know. I wanted to. Are you happy again now?" she asked sweetly and he had the urge to pull her into his arms but forced it back, not wanting anyone to say something weird.
"Sí, princesa. Muchos gracias." he said and laughed when she looked at him in confusion.
"I said, yes princess. Thank you very much." he chuckled and almost sighed at the sight of her blush.
