It had been a few weeks since then and everyone had now caught on that Octavio and Natalie were roommates.
When Alexander found out he promised death to the daredevil if he even thought about violating her privacy and Octavio was somewhat terrified but assured him that he would never do something like that.
Well..not without her permission but he kept that to himself. He liked living, thank you very much.
Natalie had grown close to all the Legends, Octavio especially. He had told her more about himself and she did the same. They were the closest of all the Legends and when they were in a squad together they were nearly unbeatable.
When they were enemies it was still fun and they took turns beating each other. Natalie realized that the only reason she won against him the first time was because he really hadn't wanted to hurt her. As they played she felt that he was much harder to beat when he was actually trying so he beat her more often than not but she didn't mind.
She liked winning with him more than anything.
She already had ten wins under her belt with him and her fanbase began to grow. Not only that but people began to suspect that she and Octavio were together. She wished.
She was just too afraid to say anything.
A month went by, then two, with them growing close and then there was another new Legend.
His name was Crypto. That was all. He was a hacker and didn't let anyone get close to him. He also seemed to be cold. He didn't like doing things with the group and he especially hated Octavio and Elliot, who were always trying to question him.
That day was a game and Wattson was hoping she'd be on Octane's team again.
"Man, I really hope I'm not on a team with that guy." grumbled Octane from his seat beside her. He was in his Victory Lap outfit today and he was tapping his foot impatiently.
At this Wattson took his hand, like she was so used to doing now and squeezed it gently.
He immediately relaxed, looking over at her and ignoring the snickers he heard from Mirage and Bangalore.
"It'll be alright. I'm sure he wants to win as much as anyone so he won't be too bad of a partner." said the blonde scientist and Octane nodded once. "You're probably right, hermosa." he grumbled and she chuckled at his pouty tone.
Crypto glanced over at the two and frowned. That girl, Wattson, was the one who built the ring. He didn't understand how she was friends with all these idiots.
Besides Caustic everyone else were worthless. Octane especially, the speed addict. Crypto pitied the fool. Later in life he would regret taking his stim so often.
Squad One: Octane and Mirage
Squad Two: Caustic and Bangalore
Squad Three: Lifeline and Pathfinder
Squad Four: Wattson and Crypto
Squad Five: Wraith and Gibraltar
Squad Six: Bloodhound
Octane stiffened and frowned. He didn't want Wattson with Crypto. That guy was just too rude. Octane got bad vibes from him and he didn't like it.
"Hermosa, be careful." he said lowly and she gave him a confused look. "I will. Promise." she said, kissing his helmet and he sighed, wishing her lips were touching his own. He needed to confess soon, before someone else tried to take her.
He nodded once, then stood up, going to stand next to Mirage.
Here are your Apex Champions.
The screen showed Wraith and Gibraltar, then everyone was jumping out. The map that day was World's Edge. Wattson wasn't a fan of this board, it had too many buildings and obstacles.
"Where do you want to go?" asked Crypto suddenly and Wattson looked around. She knew Octane would land in the action so she would do the opposite to last longer.
"How about there?" she asked and Crypto followed her line of sight to one of the towns on the edge of the map.
"Okay." then the two were landing.
The loot around them wasn't bad and Wattson soon found out what Crypto could do.
"Taking out my drone. Cover me." he stated and she nodded quickly, her Charge Rifle at the ready just in case. Crypto was silent as he scanned their surroundings then suddenly backed out of his drone.
"There's a team that way. I see Pathfinder." he said and Wattson nodded.
"Do you want to take them out or just keep going?" she asked, wanting to make sure they were on the same page. She and Octane were always on the same page but she couldn't say the same for the other Legends. They all had different battle styles.
"Take them out. I'll go left, you go right. Place a fence around any entrances or exits nearby. I'll throw them off with my drone." he said and she nodded.
So far so good.
Octane was out of the game two rounds later after being ambushed by both Caustic's team and Bloodhound but Bloodhound ended up dying as well.
So now he was in the drop ship watching the last squads fight it out. Including Wattson and Crypto. The last squad was Wraith and Gibraltar after the two had caught Caustic and Bangalore off guard right after they had used their alts to clear Octane's squad out.
They were in the last ring in the center of the map.
"Wraith is gonna rip them apart." winced Mirage and Octane scoffed. "Nah. My princesa's got this." he grinned, then his eyes widened as Mirage gave a shit eating grin. "Did you just say, your princess?" he cooed and Octane's face warmed as he coughed.
"I didn't.." he mumbled, avoiding the intense stare he felt from Caustic.
He was not gonna like the conversation they would be having after this game.
"They're in that building. Too many doors for you to fence and not get downed. So fence the entrance and the exit. After that we'll throw in some grenades and finish them. Hopefully Gibraltar can't use his alt yet." said Crypto and Wattson nodded.
She didn't really like how Crypto spoke to her but she would ignore it. Maybe he'd be nicer after they won.
She went about her objectives and right after Crypto damaged them with his EMP, they went in.
Unfortunately, Gibraltar had his shield up, meaning they had to go in. But where was Wraith?
"What are you doing?!" snapped Crypto as he dodged bullets from Gibraltar's L-Star. "Wraith will try to ambush us when we're healing. I'm going to find her." called Wattson as she rushed up the steps and she heard Crypto curse in Korean.
She looked around slowly, listening for steps and immediately darted back, throwing some frags when Wraith came out of a portal. She fired at Wattson and Wattson winced as she got hit, the damage bringing her dangerously low.
Wraith had a Devotion.
She healed quickly, placing her pylon down and recharging her shields. Before she could stand, Wraith came from behind and everything went dark.
