~Chess's POV~

I clearly do care that they tok my smile, why wouldn't I care?! But if I act like it didn't matter then they might leave me alone. This is one tactic that I haven't tried yet. Even around crazyass Peter I can't show that it has phased me because then he'll freak out even more on the twins. I need to lay low and plan a counter attack.

Peter drove me around the entirety of Dreamland looking for my smile. Nothing. When that happened we looped back around and asked everybody if they might have seen it or known where it was (Peter did all the talking). Nothing. Peter and I were tired. I took a nap and he stopped and picked up a couple of Monsters and the grabbed Alice.

~Alice's POV~

Peter came and found me and appologized for being so mad about me taking the twins side.

"It's ok... is this Chess?"

"Yeah." Peter said and shook him awake. I expected him to make some sort of groggy noise but he couldn't even do that. "Not only did they take his smile but they took his entire mouth with it." he said as he handed me a Monster.

"Thank you, these are my favorites. And that sucks." I said as I cracked it open and took a sip. Chess turned around and nodded sadly. "Nice to meet you Chess." He nodded, indicating the same toward me. "Hey Peter... can we go get some more of these?" I asked holding up the Monster,

"Yeah sure, might as well check the store for Chess's smile while we're at it. It's as good a place as any." So he revved the van back to life and drove to the closest convinence store. We grabbed as many Monsters as we could carry and went to the check out. On the girl behind the counters face was the widest, creepiest smile I'd ever seen. "How much...?" asked Peter as he eyes her smile werily.

"Anything in Dreamland is free to miss Alice. That will be nothing." She said, still grinning.

"Thank you." I said.

"One more question Miss," Peter said, "our buddy Chess here has been missing his smile for a while... have you seen it?" The smile dimmed a little. Chess pushed his way between Peter and I as he was standing behind us and looked directly into the girls eyes. The smile peeled right off of her face anf flew onto Chess's. It suited him much better.

"Thank you ma'am." Chess said with a deep voice and walked out of the store. "I'm gonna rip those dumb girls a new one." he mumbled as he pushed the doors open. The girl looked upset. I shot her an appologetic look and Peter glared at her as we followed Chess out of the store and to the van.

"Victory party at my place?" I said nervously.

"Why not." Peter said blankly and put the van in drive.

"Still pissed?"

"Why shouldn't I be?!" both guys shouted. damn. I kept quiet.

"Chess lost his smile and I'm trying to restore peace to Dreamland!"

"But he got it back."

"But I still lost it!" yelled Chess fromthe back of the van. We had switched seats. "And I'm gonna do something aweful to those aweful girls."

"They don't seem that bad."

"They haven't been tormenting you since the creation of Dreamland." he mumbled. Sad thing is, I don't know how long ago that was...
