My mom wakes me up.

"Come on, you have round up in a few hours."She says.

"What time is it?"I ask and check my phone.

"10:30." She says.

"Ryan is taking you later. Come straight home,no hanging out okay."She tells me.

"Okay."I say

"I'll see you later."She says and kisses my forehead.

"Mel,come on!"Ryan calls from downstairs.

"I'm coming!" I answer and run downstairs.

We both go outside and into the car. I turn on the radio and take out my phone to text Ruby.

"What do you have to do anyway?" He asks.

"Just get my schedule and look around. It shouldn't take long." I answer.

After a few minutes he pulls up to the school.

"Call me when you're done."he says

"Yeah."I say and walk through the gates.

I go to a vending machine and buy a vitamin water. I open it and take a drink then walk to the tables with all the schedules. While I'm looking for mine I see Ryan's. I grab it and put it in my bag. I see mine and get it.

"Oh my god." I say and look at it again.

"What the hell?"I whisper.

I take out Ryan's and see he has pretty much all advanced classes. I look at mine for a third time to make sure. I have advanced classes. It's only two but it's still something.

I start to look for my classes. I take out my phone and text Ruby.

Where are you?

I find one of the classes and get a text back from Ruby.

I'm not leaving till later so I probably won't see you.

I sigh and text everyone else. All of them had already came or were coming later. I see Alondra.

"Melody!"She calls

I walk over and she hugs me.

"Hi." I say

"Hey. So how was your summer?"

Besides crying a lot, eating ice cream and regretting things?

"Fine. I just slept a lot." I say and lightly chuckle.

"Me too."She says

"So do we have any classes together?"I ask and hand her my schedule.

"Only advanced writing." She says.

"You have writing as your elective too?" I ask.

"Yeah, I didn't know what else to pick. Why did you pick it?"

"It kinda gives me an escape. That sounds lame,but you can pick how things turn out. You know what I mean?" I answer.

"Yeah. I never thought of it that way."She says.
