very last chapter HUZZAH

As Austin patrolled the borders and saw wolves from other packs, he could feel the weight of their stares on him, because he was from the Royal Pack. The whispers spread through the world like wildfire.

"Their alpha is crazy."

"She's a maniac."

"..."

Austin knew about Everest's situation. It wasn't easy having to keep it in all the time, and pretend to be happy just for the world to see. He knew it wasn't often that wolves became like that, but— he couldn't just stand there and let people talk shit about his pack.

"HEY!" He roared, as the two wolves jumped and turned to him. One of them snarled, ready to advance on Austin, claws out as he pounced. Austin swiftly jumped out of the way as he continued, "That's my pack you're talking about, and if you don't mind your own damn business, I could skin you alive here and now."

The she-wolf bared her teeth as she said sweetly, "Well, well, well. It's Austin. Isn't your dad that coward who got defeated by a girl?" Austin growled lowly, trying to keep his fury from bubbling any further. He badly wanted to claw her eyes out, girl or not. "Shut up. This isn't about my dad. Or me." He said carefully. "Well, it could be..." The girl said sweetly.

He couldn't fight. But oh, how the girl's eyes were just begging to be gouged out, and his claws were itching to just help her. Screw it. Just a little bit.

He jumped on her as she screamed, the boy wolf in shock as he stood there for a few seconds, buying Austin a few precious seconds as he kicked her in the stomach.

The girl breathed heavily as she said, "Let... m-me go. My Alpha will hunt down your pack if you don't. The Green Sun pack."

Psh. What a joke. The Green Sun pack's Alpha was all talk but lazy. Not that Austin would ever say that out loud.

Austin released the girl as she fell back, panting. The boy stalked towards him, his human hand shooting out to grip Austin's wolf-neck the same time the boy changed into a human. Talk about speed. Austin thought as he steadied his breathing. "You will be very sorry, you ever cross us." The boy sneered, squeezing Austin's neck harder as Austin stayed very still.

"What does your Alpha want with us?" Austin said finally. The boy sent a lazy smirk his way as he drawled, "Finally asking the right questions! See, here's the deal... I can't tell you! Haha! Big surprise!"

Austin wanted to give himself a standing ovation for the amount of self-control he was exerting here.

"Leave him. He will understand eventually, but by then... it will be... t-too late." The girl said weakly, sharing a silent conversation with the boy through their eyes, as she frowned and shook her head vehemently.

The boy released Austin unceremoniously as Austin scrambled to change back into human form. "You'll go far in life, you both. I'm sure you will—"

"That's nice of you!" The girl interrupted, blushing furiously as the boy stomped on her foot and coughed something that sounded suspiciously like "Shut up!" Austin could feel the weight of her stare on the part where his shirt was slightly torn, where his abs were.

Austin felt guilty to continue his sentence but said it anyway, "—when you do, don't come back."

The girl frowned at him, before she decided he was making a joke and giggled. "Go back. I'll meet you at the borders." The boy hissed fiercely, as she pouted and turned around. After taking a step, she seemingly changed her mind as she yelled to Austin, "I'M SORRY ABOUT YOUR DAD!"

"Thanks...?"

"She didn't mean that. Don't go hitting her up. We aren't friends, my pack and yours. We will never be." The boy said angrily, once the girl was out of earshot. Austin raised his brows as he held the boy's glare, "What are you really here to tell me? Are you even doing this on your dad's orders?" The boy hesitated, a flash of nervousness slid across his face, and it was gone again. He waved Austin off dismissively, and replied, "That's not the point. This is about how the werewolf community has changed."

"I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Of course you don't."

Austin scowled, causing the boy to throw his head back and guffaw loudly, while he tried to say, "I-it is none of your concern. You just need to know..."

Austin's ears pricked up.

"...a war is coming." he then turned and ran into the woods.

THE END.
