Even though it would only be an hour I hated driving away from her. After how today went, I would imagine she would feel the same. Unless she's just playing me. I hate thinking that because she genuinely doesn't seem like that type of person. However after last time I'm not sure.
I pulled into my driveway and turned off the car. I sat there thinking about the day and what would come within the hour. As I was lost in thought I could hear the faint sound of music. As the music grew louder I snapped out of my thoughts and was able to make out the song playing. As I looked in my review mirror I saw her pull into her driveway. I had two options. I could either sit here in my car staring like a total creep and get out the same time she does or I could wait so I get out before or after her.
By the time I had finished discussing the choices with, well with myself she had already gotten out of her car and to her front door. As she approached her front door two young kids ran out nearly tackling her. An older lady approached the opened door smiling and laughing. As they were getting themselves up off the grass I got out of my car.
"MICHAEL!"
I turned around to see Sarah waving at me. I waved back smiling and chuckling at the site of the two kids wrapped around her legs.
"If you want to come over now you can. Get a head start."
I smiled and started to cross the street.
Guess this is why the chicken crossed the road. Wow, seriously wow that was dumb. Even by my standards that was a dumb thing to think."Hey Sarah." I said smiling as I walked up to her.
"Hey"
Her smile could brighten up the darkest of rooms.
As I was about to speak the older lady walked up to Sarah.
"Ms. Kore"
"Kathy you know you can call me Sarah."
"Yes ma'am, sorry Sarah."
"No need to apologize."
I couldn't help but just stand there smiling and staring at her. All of a sudden I felt a tug on my shirt. I looked down and there were the twins.
"Are you our sisters new boyfriend?" They asked in unison.
"No he's a classmate who is here to work on some school projects with me since we were assigned as partners."
I don't think I have ever heard her respond to something so fast. At least with the events that have happened today. She was blushing as she explained. From the corner of my eye I could see Kathy grinning at the three of them. Then she saw me. It was as if she had daggers in her eyes.
"Ms. Sarah would you like me to stay and watch the twins while you have...company over?"
"No that's not necessary. I can handle the twins and this one." She looked back at me smirking.
"I'll be on my way then. Y'all have a good evening. I can pick Artemis and Apollo up from school tomorrow."
"Thank you Kathy! For everything you do. You're to good to us!"
"It's my pleasure dear."
As Kathy was leaving she turned and gave me that death stare again.
"How about we go inside and everyone can start on their homework?"
Sarah said herding the children into the house.
"Come on Michael. I'll show you around."
With that I followed her in.
