As Sarah handed back my schedule Kyle walked up to us.
"Hey babe, missed me?" Kyle said as he put his arm in between Sarah and I.
Sarah looked disgusted and I could tell it embarrassed Kyle. That's when I saw him turn to look at me.
"What are you doing with this loser?"
"Mrs. Preker assigned Michael as my partner for our first project."
"What do you mean project? Its only the first day of school! She's crazy."
"No Kyle, you're just to stupid to be in her class."
I started to chuckle. She was everything. Smart, beautiful, funny.
"What are you laughing at scum?"
"Nothing. Hey Sarah I'm going to head to Mr. Pizowskie's. I guess I'll see you there."
This was starting to get uncomfortable. It's not the fact I felt threaten by Kyle. The conversation was starting to get tense.
"It's okay Michael I'll walk you. We have to get going or we'll be late." she said staring dead into Kyle's eyes. His face was turning red with irritation.
"Alright." I said as Sarah pushed Kyle's arm out of the way.
After we had walked several feet we started talking.
"I'm sorry about that."
"It's no problem. It wasn't my first encounter with him today."
"Oh God."
"No it's okay, really, there was no problem. What I would like to know is why the apologies?"
"I'm not sure honestly. I guess it's because we had a fling and he still thinks we're together. Well here we are."
"Ladies first." I said as I opened the door for her.
"Why thank. How gentlemanly of you." she said giggling.
We found seats in the back next to each other. We had spent the entire class laughing and talk to one another. We hadn't really missed much since it's the first day and it's the same routine in every class.
"Alright class I want Chapter One to be completed by next time. Next class after turning in the assignment we will get started on the labs" Mr. Pizowskie said as the bell rang.
"So what's next?" I asked Sarah as we walked out of class.
"Well it's 11 so it's lunch."
"Alright, my favorite subject. You get to learn so much at lunch." I said in a semi sarcastic tone.
"Well that is very true. You can learn a lot."
She had the most contagious smile ever. I stood there smiling like a idiot.
"So, where do you wanna sit? Inside or outside?"
I stood there shocked. I wasn't expecting for us to sit together at lunch.
"Hello? Anybody in there?"
"Yeah sorry, I just wasn't expecting us to sit together."
"Why not?" She seemed confused and slightly hurt.
"It's nice out let's sit out there." I said ignoring her question, staring into blue eyes, smiling. She was such a delight to be around.
