Chapter 7

I opened my door throwing away my empty blood bag after I heard someone knock. Knox was standing there. I moved to shut the door, but he put his foot in the way before coming inside.

I sat on my bed and he stood in front of me, "Let me explain, please," he says

I nod rubbing at my swollen eyes, "I wasn't thinking straight. I was angry that I wasn't your first and that it was my beta, and then yesterday...you said you were worried about him and I don't know, I just freaked out. I'm so so sorry I put you inside the pain that I did," he says

I slowly nod, "Please forgive me Iris, I swear it'll never happen ever again," he begs

"Okay," I said before walking to the bathroom

I undressed getting into the shower and soap myself up and shave. I get out of the shower and wrap myself in a towel and walk into my room. Knox was sitting on my bed and I didn't even flinch even though I didn't know he was there.

I put on matching undergarments before getting out a tank top and leggings and put on my combat boots.

"I'm going to the adoption center," I tell Knox

"Can I come?" he asks and I shrug

"The boy won't talk to you," I tell him

"What boy?"

"Noah," I reply

"Poor boy, his vampire got angry and hungry and he killed his parents," Knox says looking down

I gasp, "His vamp killed his parents?" I ask again

"Yep and he hasn't spoken since,"

"He easily spoke to me yesterday. I was supposed to sing to the kids last night," I groan as I remember

"How come I don't get sang to," Knox pouts

I let out a short laugh, "Oh, I suggest you stay away from the mated male warriors because I'm pretty sure they're mad at you,"

"Oh, that's why Kevin wasn't talking to me?" he asks, "What did I do?"

"Well I kind of collapsed in the middle of training," I say sheepishly

"Oh," he says looking down, "I'm so sorry," he says again

"It's okay, I forgive you," I say

We enter the adoption center and Mona glared at Knox. Kevin must have spilled the blood soup to her.

"Are you okay?" she wraps her arms around me

"Don't worry, I'm fine and it won't happen again because I will cut it off," I turn to Knox who nods quickly

"Good, I was starting to lose respect for you Alpha," Mona jokes and Knox lets out a small chuckle

"Don't want to end up like Dylan," he mutters making me gasp and smack his head, "Ow,"

"Yeah, ow," I say pushing him towards the glass door. 

When he walks through the kids look at him and then continuing what they were doing until I walked in behind him. They got up quickly wrapping their arms around me but I caught a glimpse of Noah using his vamp speed to quickly hug me and go back making me smile at him.

Noah was 9 years old. He looked more 7ish but he was 9. He was very intelligent and maybe messed up on his sentences sometimes but he has a real brain on those shoulders.

I sit on the bench with Knox while Kira sits on my lap like before and all of the kids sat around me and I saw Noah move a bit closer but nowhere near the circle but easy for his enhanced hearing to pick up.

"You sing a song about Peter Pan?" Kira asks

I smile at her and nod.

The kids all giggle and clap and I kiss Kira's cheek sending a wink in Noah's direction.

"Luna, is it true you're the only hybrid in the world?" Peyton asks

"As of now, yes. Yes, I am," I respond

All of the kids gush saying how cool it was. Sparks flew through my hand and I realize Knox took my hand in his.

"Alpha Knox, do guys kiss their mate's hand?" a girl asks

He nods, "Its a signal of love,"

"Which is why you've never done it," I mumble and laugh while Knox glares at me before kissing my hand

"Aww!" the children gush, "Alpha Knox woves you," Kira smiles

"Not really, but sure," I say poking her nose

Knox growls lowly in my ear and I bite my lip to contain my smile.

"I'll come to sing to you before bed," I kiss their foreheads and cheeks

They all nod before dispersing to their own things. I go over to Noah who was back to sitting in his corner.

"Hi Iris," he smiles

"Hey, Noah," I smile patting his head

"I heard what happened, are you okay," he points to my stomach

"Oh yeah, I'm fine," I tell him

"I'm happy you're okay,"

"I'm happy you're worried about me," I mess with his hair, "I'll see you tonight," I kiss his cheek

"Okay, see you later," he hugs me

I go to Knox slipping my hand into his, "I'm cheating on you," I tell him keeping my neutral face

He tenses slightly, "With who?"

"Noah, didn't you see me kiss his cheek?" I laugh

Knox lets out a chuckle before he pulls me into his arms kissing my cheek.
