Steve collapsed on his couch that night, his shoulder was killing him and the second he made it to his apartment, all he wanted to do was rest.
The next morning, he woke up late and his shoulder was still sore. He hopped in the shower and got ready for his typical day the wound was already mostly healed, there was still some scarring but that's all.
Normally, he would still go to the gym, even if he were to wake up late, but part of him wondered if tony was going to be at the coffee shop again.
He walked all the way there and was later than he usually was when he arrived, but there he sat, tony by the window at his table.
When he opened the door, the bells ringing got his attention and immediately stood up. "What did you do sleep in?"
Steve laughed, "actually yeah" tony walked to the counter with steve, "now I believe I owe you a coffee"
"I thought you'd forgotten"Steve ordered and tony I territory quickly, "and those are to go this time, please" steve looked at tony slightly confused, "I told you I was going to show you around didn't I?" Steve smiled and the butterflies returned as he pulled some cash out of his wallet for their coffees.
"After you" steve Said and held the door open for him.
This time the sun was out, and it was a beautiful day. The sun gleamed off of the windows of the buildings surrounding them and the sounds of New York echoed together like an orchestra. At least, steve thought so. When he wasn't looking it sounded like home. Birds chirping, cars running, horns honking, people talking, yelling, laughing. It was a wonderful feeling. But with tony, that day, everything felt okay. For the first time in a long time, he felt okay.
But then he got scared. Everything that he once enjoyed, everything important to him was lost now. He was scared of losing this kind and kind of arrogant stranger who helping him get closer to stability."What're you thinking of?" Tony asked and frowned. They continued to walk
"Oh, sorry, it's nothing i just had a rough night" and he smiled it off.
He wasn't lying, just leaving out the part of being shot at and catching a bullet in his shoulder.
"Well everyone has those nights right, cmon this'll cheer you up" he grabbed steves arm and pulled him into a building, steve wasn't paying attention because if he were he would've known where they were going.
They hopped on an elevator and rode it all the way to the top, as soon as the doors opened, the gust of wind blew steve off his feet. The Empire State Building, one of the best spots to see the entire New York skyline.
"It's beautiful up here," steve awed. Views like this always impressed him, he could see everything everywhere within miles, and so could tony, yet he had his eyes set on steve walking over to the railing.
Tonys phone rang which caught steves attention too, he watched tony pull the device out of his pocket, turn it off and walk over to his side. "Work?"
Tony scoffed, "they'll survive a day without me"
"You don't have to do this." Steve insisted.
Tony looked over at him and and shook his head "I always keep my word, so shush and enjoy the view steve" steve smiled wide and stepped slightly closer to tony, and tony did the same until they were practically shoulder to shoulder.
The entire day was spent going to all of the best places in New York, some were obvious and major tourist attractions, others were just tonys favourite spots he'd found over time. They got lunch, and dinner, even caught a movie because insisted on making a day of it.
And before they knew it the darkness was chasing the sun until the streetlights were the only things lighting up their path. "It's getting pretty late" steve said and paused on the sidewalk, "I had a really great night tony, thank you"
Tonys heart sank, only because he didn't want the night to end, steve wasn't the only one who hasn't had this much fun in a while, "well I guess I'm walking you home," and steve smiled.
"I guess you are"
Steves apartment wasn't far, just a few blocks away and as soon as they arrived, tony felt the need to finish the day off perfectly, but just nervous to make the move. "Do you mind if I use your washroom quickly?" Was the first thing he came to mind to give him more time to think.
Steve nodded and they headed upstairs. When the door was unlocked and they stepped inside, the first thing tony noticed was how organized and well decorated it was.
"Uh the washroom is just around the corner"
Tony snapped out of it "right... thanks". He stepped inside and pace back and forth a few times before splashing some water on his face and stepping out.
"You're apartment is really nice." Tony complimented and walked closer to steve. He'd never stood face to face with him and he now noticed how much taller he was than him.Steve laughed a little awkwardly as tony stepped in closer, "thanks, uh..." he didn't have any words, he was lost of them and nervousness racked up and down his spine.
Steve brushed his hand against tonys and slowly met his eyes, and suddenly, he was no longer nervous, no longer scared, just calm and surprisingly relaxed, up until their lips met, the butterflies weren't just in in his stomach now, they were all over his body and flying around them.
The kiss was soft and gentle at first, the intro to something amazing as tony grabbed the side of steves face to reach it better and so he could activate his tongue action.
He tugged at tonys shirt and slid his hand underneath while the other rested on tony neck softly and gently. Steve pulled away for all of one second to look tony in the eyes, but as soon as he did so, they were both tearing off each others' clothes and throwing them across steves living room as they made their way to the bedroom.
