The first time he woke up was to the sound of a familiar voice despite the darkness, he knew exactly who it was.

"What happened to him?"

Tony. It was tony.

"We don't know. He was found in a ditch by the side of a road by a jogget early this morning. We honestly don't know how he's still alive..."

"Mr. Stark?"

Stark? As in Howard Stark?

"Do you know if this is your friend? Steve, was it?"

Yes. Yes it's me. Tony, it's me.

"I need to see his right shoulder."

My right shoulder? Why does he- no, he must've noticed the scar from his bullet wound. That won't be there by now.

He tried to speak but couldn't, he couldn't even move. He felt he gown being tugged at by his shoulder and panic rattled his body with the fear that tony wouldn't know that it's him.

"It's not him."

No. No. No. tony! It's me, it's steve please, please don't go. I need you, please it's me!!

He could hear his monitor speeding up and could feel panic rising in his chest.

"Hey, hey, you need to stay still."

He felt his hand being grasped in someone else's.

"I'm sorry Mr. Stark, you must leave now."

No, no, stay just stay. Tony... don't... go...

He thought as he drifted back asleep, never escaping the darkness.

He could barely remember the second time, all he knew was that he was exhausted and his chest was killing him. He tried to open his eyes, but could only manage a crack in his left eye.

"Steve?"

They know who I am.

Everything he could see was blurry, and the light beaming through made his head ache. He couldn't see much but felt someone grab his hand.

"Steve can you hear me?"

Yes. Yes I can hear you tony.

He looked around as much as he could but was distracted by someone finger waving in front of him. He followed it and as soon it was moved from in front of his face, he saw a blurred form standing in front of him. They squeezed his hand and he knew from that moment, it was tony and squeezed back. He was pulled back into the pure darkness of his slumber.
