Excitement racked through his body on their way out of the elevator and onto the roof. He'd been switched into a wheelchair since both of his legs were still in casts along with his arm and wrist. He could barely move, but the simple movement into the chair, while somewhat painful, was very satisfying. The cool air whipped across his face as the sun beamed on his skin for the first time in who knows how long.
Tony pushed him up the ramp of the quinjet and locked his wheelchair in place. "You doing okay?"
Tony asked as he sat down directly beside him.
Steve nodded, "I just needed to get out of there." He let out a sigh of relief.Tony chuckled, "well the tower will be much more comfortable, don't worry."
Natasha flew the jet over to the landing pad at stark tower pretty quickly and stood up from her seat as soon as it landed, "okay, you guys ready?"
Tony looked at steve for his answer, "as I'll ever be" he said and the hatch opened up.
"Welcome to my place," tony said as he pushed steve through halls and massive and fancy rooms, "well one of them." He added.
Steve was astonished last he scanned the halls, his left eye was still slightly swollen, but open as wide as it could to take in the beauty of the place.
"This is your room," the wide door was being held open and revealed the king size bed by the wall of glass revealing the New York skyline.
Of course, the room was filled with medical equipment, but he was hopefully done with that soon.
"This is as big as my apartment..." he mumbled as he looked around.
Tony chuckled, "if it makes you feel better you got the bigger room because of all of the equipment"
Steve laughed, "you know what, it kinda does."
Natasha placed everything they had brought from his room in the hospital which included a vase of flowers and a few cards on the nightstands."Thank you guys," he said and fought back tears, he felt safe.
Tony smiled, leaned over and gave him a kiss on the lips, "anytime" steve smiled back. "Now let's get you settled in" tony said and with the help of some of the few nurses, they got him into the bed and made sure he was as comfortable as possible.
Getting onto that bed was like laying down on a pillow, his legs were propped up on top of pillows and one was stuck underneath his arm. He looked out the window and admired the view but still squinted against the beaming sun as it set right in front of him.
"Okay, Banner just Texted he's on his way up"
"Banner?" Steve asked.Tony sat down beside him, "yeah Bruce banner" the name struck a cord and he realized he was talking about the scientist who tried to replicate his serum.
"Why?"
"He's the smartest guy I know second to me of course, and will be leading the doctors and nurses for your care.
"I'm fine" steve insisted, feeling a little uncomfortable with all of the attention he was receiving.
"I know you are, I'm just not letting you slip through fingers again. Besides, we have some other work to partner on so he won't be in your hair..." tony looked at steves almost bald head, "you know what I mean" they both laughed. Tony kissed his cheek and hopped off the bed, "im going to go brief him, I'll be right back"
