Mrs. Stella called me and told me about another singing contest, but I denied her because I wanted to avoid any disturbance in my circle. I just wanted to pass this year with my head low now.

But it wasn't happening. Mrs. Neela told me about an 'on the spot writing contest'.
My very first reaction was to deny her. Just like Vickie used to do.
I made an excuse about my headache, that I couldn't do it.

But instead of going on with it, she advised me to spend some time in the fresh air and then told me to be ready.

I went to the venue and the topic was 'Digitalization'.
I wrote. And I wrote well.

I got 3rd prize. That was really nice. I didn't want to do it, but I still did it and got award for it too.
That boosted my confidence and encouraged me to do more.

Then there was a spelling contest in the school. Just to check students' knowledge.

Everyone had to participate.
And I won it. 1st prize.

I was happy. Mrs. Neela appreciated me.
Vickie and Sanya got 3rd position.

But instead of celebrating it together, they were standing away from me.

I know, it wasn't a big deal, but it didn't need to be a big deal to celebrate. We could just be happy together.

They even commented, "Take it. We don't want the 1st award anyway, for this pathetic contest. It's too silly." And laughed out loud.

I was so angry. Like really. Did they have to do it every time?

Even Mrs. Neela was disappointed. But she congratulated me and encouraged me too.

Day by day, I was getting affected more than I expected. I was finding it hard to put up with them. I was trying to get rid of the control Vickie had on me.

I was trying to get back the control. To do whatever I wanted.

It was also because I knew she was hiding something from me. She'd take Sanya with her to roam in the corridor and talk to her.

She'd make plans with Alice to meet with her, and won't tell me. I had to connect the dots and figure it out all by myself.
With her phrases and their eye contact and their whispers.

I was so hurt that it turned into irritation and anger.

One of the moments was, when Sanya drew an 'S' on the Chemistry book and smirked. She teasingly asked, "Do you know someone whose name starts with S?"

Though I didn't make an eye contact with either of them, I could still see it from my peripheral vision, Vickie shook her head and mouthed her to shut up.

That was when all my doubts were cleared. About her and Shaun.

And when I connected the dots, I figured, they had been together for 8 months, even before when she told us about him asking her to be his girlfriend.

And her mother often scolding her about using too much phone and laptop. Her being in bad mood.
Talking about breaking up.
