Elizabeth's POV
"Do you really have to go?" He says.
"Yes baby, I'm already in enough trouble." I say. It's true, my dad is going to kill me.
"I'm going to miss you." He says sweetly.
"I love you, good bye." I say. We rub noses and then kiss.
"I love you too baby, good night." He says making my heart pump. I climb the tree that leads to my window sill. I jump into my window and the first pup I see is Rosie.
"Uh, hi?" I say with a nervous laugh.
"Where have you been?" Rosie says.
"Guess what? Marshall is my boyfriend! Isn't that great?" I say avoiding her question.
"Really?" She says nastily. "He's so stupid and clumsy and he left the house years ago! He's a traitor!"
"Rosie! I'm the Chiefs daughter! Dose that mean anything to you?" I say.
"We are best friends! I just want what's best for you." Rosie says.
"Then you would be happy for me! This is who I want... I think for the rest of my life." I say. All of a sudden my dad comes barging in to my room.
"Elizabeth! You are in so much trouble! Go in the basement and prepare for your punishment!" He booms.
"Daddy! You don't understand! I found someone! Someone who loves me!" I yelp.
"Love? LOVE? There is no such thing as love. Love is for fairytales and make believe! In the house, we breed. We breed for a better kind! Stronger! Faster! Bigger! We train warriors, not make believe." He says.
"THATS NOT TRUE! NONE OF THAT IS TRUE!!! I felt it dad! It was real! It was there. He showed me how much he loved me." I say.
"I think it's best if you just go to the punishment room." Rosie says.
"You don't believe me?" I ask.
"GO!" My dad yells and I quickly go to the basement. Seconds grew to minutes and minutes grew to hours down there and my heart ached for Marshall's touch. I knew what was coming. I've seen him do it to pups before. I've seen him do it to Marshall and Chase before for staying out to late.
I've got to get out. I've got to get out of this house. Screw my parents. Screw this house. Screw everyone who ever says in this house. It provides protection, but at what cost?
My dad finally marches down the steps.
"Have you thought about what you've done?" My dad says.
"Yes." I say.
"I'm glad you understand what you've done wrong."
"I don't regret anything." I say. His head snaps to my direction.
"I've given you 15 hours to think about what you've done and you don't regret anything?!" He says.
"Nope" I say popping the 'p'.
"I didn't want it to come to this, but you need to learn a lesson." He says. He pulls out a briar branch filled with spikes and strikes me.
"You need to learn a lesson!" I scream. He strikes me again, drawing blood. "Love is real! I see it in the way Ryder treats his pups-" he strikes me again. "I see it in Macy and Cade-" he strike me again harder. "And I see it the most in the pup who I love and loves me!-" He strikes me 4 or 5 more times before I say his name.
"Marshall!!" I scream at the top of my lungs. He hits me one last time in the head and I start to see black dots cover up my vision until every thing goes black.
