Ryder's POV
"You go like this." She flips it and throws it in the air and it lands on her finger tips as she steadily smoothens it out. The pizza dough looked like a cloud softly jumping on the pads of her finger tips.
"I can't do that" I say honestly. She chuckles.
"Haven't you ever made pizza before?" She asks.
"No" I say.
"Well smoothing it out with a rolling pin is okay, it just doesn't get as much moisture out of the crust causing it to be softer. When you toss the dough, your crust is flakey and crunchy."
"Who fought you that?" I ask impressed by her extensive knowledge of making pizza.
"I used to watch Mr. Porter teach cooking classes, I never actually got to take a class, I just sat on Mr. Porters windowsill and watched. Sometimes, he would have competitions where I would taste what everyone in the class made and judge which ones were the best."
"Have you ever gone to a class of real?" I ask.
"No it's like $150 for each class, but it's worth it, you learn a lot."
"I'm going to take you to one." I say. She frowns to the floor.
"That's what my mom said but we both knew how that turned out." She says breaking a little piece of my heart. I shouldn't me this emotionally attached to her. It's not like we'll ever be something. Will we?
"I promise I will take you to one." I say with a smile. She looks up and I stare into her beautiful baby blue eyes and for a second, just a second, I swore I saw the hurt she's been hiding behind her smile.
That's when she collapsed.
She rests her head on my shoulder and holds me close to her. I could feel my shirt beginning to feel wetter in the back, but I don't care. I just want to be here for her though anything and everything.
"Why is holding on so hard?" She weeps onto my shoulder. I remain silent. I don't want to say something stupid then she gets mad at me. "I try so hard and no one seems to notice. I put on a smile but my heart is sad. I try to keep people happy but every one always ends up angry or sad or confused or hurt and I'm sick of it!" I take her hand and I pull her onto the couch. I look in those big blue eyes.
"I am so lucky to have someone like you in my life. You are perfect in my eyes."
"I'm not perfect. In fact, I'm the exact opposite of perfect." I take her hand and rub small circles with my thumb on the back of her hand.
"Ryder, I-I think its best, if you, if you just, leave."
