Philip's P.O.V.*

The picnic went perfectly, even better than we could have hoped for. Our parents really enjoyed it and they also complimented us on working well together, which made both Theodosia and I smile bashful. Today I planned on taking her to the new book store, in the square. Well, technically we were already on our way there.

Theodosia had her hand wrapped around my elbow, as she walked behind me wearing a long white caraco, over a long yellow skirt with a petticoat. Her body wave hair was testing simply on her shoulders with a simple flat yellow summer hat with a little white bow on the back of it.

She looked absolutely radiant as she smiled up at me falling into step beside me. She had mentioned before in one of her letters that she loved to read and go to book stores with her father. So that was great, for the date idea.

I mean would you call, this a date? We were basically just going to check out books together at an old looking store. But somehow it felt romantic all the same when I was joined by Theodosia. The same Theodosia, who smiled at me liked I was the brightest star in the sky.

I smiled back down at her as I walked beside her we seemed to somewhat match. I was eating black breeches, white shirt black buttoned waistcoat, and long golden-colored silk coat. My curly hair was flowing freely on my shoulders, blowing in my face occasionally as the wind hit our faces.

We had just entered the square full, of men and women going about their daily, routines of shopping for groceries and chatting amongst themselves. We continued to walk down the street silently arm in arm, as we passed groups of people running their errands, only talking when we approached the book store.

"Here is our stop." I said gesturing to the large sign above the store door that said 'Lewis's Bookstore'.

"The new bookstore!" She said smiling at me in surprise.

"Yeah, let's go inside," I said pulling the door open for her, stepping inside after her as an overhead bell chimed.

We stepped into the dark shop with brown walls, old looking bookshelves, filled with old-looking books and scrolls. Theodosia, twirled around the shop eagerly stopping front of shelves to read the names of the books on them. After walking through the whole store, she walked over to me wrapping her arms around me.

"Thank you," She said smiling into my chest.

"Of course." I smiled down at her hugging her back tightly.

I was honestly really glad that she liked the surprise, I'd been worried the walk over that she wouldn't but thankfully she did. Theodosia pulled away taking my hand leading me to the back of the shop, where there was a small pile of pillows and blankets on the ground.

"Sit here!" She said smiling as she scurried off towards the shelves.

I sat down on the blankets comfortably leaning against the wall as she disappeared for a little over a minute appearing a moment later with two books in her hand. She handed me Common Sense by Thomas Paine, as she sat down clutching The Seasons by James Thomson. Theodosia than plopped down beside me on the blanket cuddling into my side as she pulled open her book.

I smiled down at her as she began reading her book. I looked at the book that she had handed to me. I had mentioned to her before that I loved this book and somehow she had managed to remember that it was my favorite book. I loved to read Common Sense whenever I had free time. I planted a kiss on her forehead quickly, before pulling open my book and beginning to read it.

The two of us stayed liked that for the rest of the day cuddled up together at the back of the book store reading books together. We only got up hours later to get food to eat, laughing together as we ate by the city fountain. It had been an extremely comfortable day just the two of us doing something that we both had a common love for.
