Settling In

Draco Malfoy stared at his cold breakfast which contained bacon and partially uncooked omelette. He huffed in annoyance.

When he had first entered the village of Ottery St. Caterpole he had thought it would be quite easy and exciting to settle down and live alone.

But boy had he been wrong.

The weather was really unpredictable here, no servants to clean his house and he had to do it all himself .

He never knew dusting, cleaning, laundry could be so difficult and time consuming even after being a wizard.

He had actually turned some of his clothes orange in his first attempt at laundry.

By all this he realised how much of a spoilt brat he had been.

On top of that he had thought his first meeting with the Weasleys had gone quite well and may be, just maybe he'll be able to settle and even make  acquaintances with them.

But no, the hostility between them was way stronger and irreversible now. He had found himself to be a constant target of their jokes, taunts and pranks.

He was narrowly saved from taking a green coloured pill disguised as chocolate, obviously was the doing of the twins but was saved luckily by Mrs. Weasley, the first time.

Although he hadn't been lucky the second time and had to endure antlers on his head for a whole day which was not at all comfortable. He also had to endure a whole day of vomit because they had mixed something in his food.

Although they always said it was done by mistake, breaking his window glasses 5 times a day while "so called" practising of Quiditch seemed a little suspicious.

It only stopped when he put an unbreakable charm on them.

All the hooting and cursing whenever they passed his cottage was a normal occurance not to forget the taunts directed at him whenever he had to go to the Burrow.

But he tolerated all of that convinced that he deserved it but one thing he was utterly tired and annoyed about was food.

The nearby eatery from which he had purchased the whole 6 months worth of packed meals was horrible.

Nothing was to his taste. He was habituated with delicious meals at home which continued at Hogwarts and he was finding it rather difficult to adjust to the falling standard of food.

He huffed again and waved his wand.

The table got rid of the remanants of his poor excuse of breakfast. His empty stomach gave a little lurch but he could not take another bite of that muck.

Maybe he'll report to Mr. Weasley first and then maybe go shopping to buy some ingredients and try his luck at cooking.

He locked his doors and jogged across the street. The minute he stepped inside the already open door he heard.

"Mom we might have to clean the porch again there is a big stupid bug on it now" said George Weasley loudly. Draco looked down and smiled shaking his head expecting something of the sort.

"What? What kind of bug?" asked Mrs. Weasley rushing outside with her wand in hand, wearing an apron. As soon as she saw Draco she lowered her wand and sighed.

"Oh come on in Draco. I ll get you your signature parchment" she said giving him a very small smile which Draco appreciated nonetheless.

He had a newfound respect for Mr. and Mrs. Weasley as even after all he had done in the past they had never been rude to him but instead always tried to stop their kids from making fun of him.
